I love my Real Estate business - 08/30/08 11:41 PM
I go nonstop all day long from the minute I get up until it's time to go to sleep. I work 12-14 and sometimes longer hours a day, 7 days a week and love every minute of it. It does not feel like a job to me. I have always told myself: "If I stop liking what I do, I'll get out of it!" I love that you can be your own boss and make as much (or as little) money as you want and get rewarded for your actions in the business. I have witnessed many clients, family members and friends, … (8 comments)

World Class Real Estate Service - 08/30/08 10:35 PM
I read a blog from Jimmy McCall Beyond expectations. last week about his experience at a restaurant where he went to eat with his family and the excellent service he received. It made me think about our service as Realtors to our customers. So what makes a service a "world-class" service? It is the talk of many but the reality of few. World-class service is the kind of service that becomes legendary to the client and he/she retells it to many others in the form of free publicity, the kind that can't be bought. - It is "word of mouth advertising", it is … (6 comments)

Dunbar Cave State Natural Park - 08/30/08 09:38 PM
The 110-acre park is one of Clarksville's most scenic areas and it is honeycombed by caves and sinkholes, the most prominent being Dunbar Cave. This 8.1 mile cave has historical, natural, archaeological and geological significance. Excavations revealed that this cave has been occupied by man for thousands of years, drawn by its constant stream flow and natural air conditioning.
The cave and surroundings were a mineral springs resort at the turn of the century. In the 1930's and 40's the huge cave entrance served as a naturally air-conditioned venue to Big Band performances. Later, the cave was owned by country music … (2 comments)

Home Staging Tips - 08/30/08 03:37 PM
Here are a few quick and easy things for the sellers to set up their house for a successful sale. You can include some of these items in your cards or flyers you mail out to your customers!
1. Hire a professional organizer for a day to maximize space in small rooms and closets. When everything has a place, the house appears large, clean and easy to maintain.
2. A kitchen makeover can yield a great return when you're selling your home. Even small improvements like a new stainless microwave and lighting are highly appealing to homebuyers.
3. A healthy lawn … (2 comments)

Addicted to AR - Need therapy! - 08/30/08 02:40 PM
I had no idea what it would be like without AR! OMG! I got a virus in my computer a couple of days ago and it was one I couldn't get rid of on my own so I had to take the computer to the shop! I have been driving the technicians crazy calling every hour to see if it is ready. I can't do my blogs, or comments or networking that I'm used to. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal - after all it was just gonna be a couple of days, but I'm going … (12 comments)

Better look at your Driver's License - 08/30/08 02:22 PM
A  mother is driving a little girl to her friend's house for a play date.
'Mommy,' the little girl asks, 'how old are you?'
'Honey, you  are not supposed to ask a lady her age,' the mother replied. 'It's  not polite.'
'OK', the little girl says, 'How much do you weigh?'
'Now really,' the mother says, 'those are personal questions and are  really none of your business.'
Undaunted, the little girl asks, 'Why  did you and Daddy get a divorce?'
'That is enough questions, young  lady, honestly!'
The exasperated mother walks away as the two friends  begin to play.
'My Mom won't tell me anything … (2 comments)

Pets left homeless because of foreclosures - 08/21/08 04:12 PM
With foreclosures skyrocketing and the prices of everyday goods rising, pets have become hidden victims. As many people are being displaced from houses to apartments that don't allow pets, they leave their cats and dogs with shelters, or even worse, abandon them altogether. Home inspectors and real estate agents have found starved, dehydrated, and terrified dogs, cats, rabbits, and even horses.  I personally had two similar occurrences earlier this year. The first one was a Pit-bull left chained in the backyard of the property with no food or water and in the freezing cold. Even though it took several phone calls … (20 comments)

Buying Foreclosures - 08/18/08 01:35 AM
Do you have clients out there looking to get a great deal among the many foreclosed properties? Why not? Foreclosed houses are everywhere you turn in this market. But while their sticker prices are low, buying one can be a risky endeavor. This is mainly because with a foreclosure you won't have the same protections as you would for a conventional house.
However there are ways to protect yourself, so let your clients know that they CAN get that great deal they've been after, but they have to do their homework.

Alligator Shoes - 08/18/08 12:25 AM
A young blonde was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana. She wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking. After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the blonde shouted, "Maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes at a reasonable price!" The shopkeeper said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you'll luck out and catch yourself a big one!" Determined, the blonde turned and headed … (9 comments)

Was it something I said? - 08/17/08 11:36 PM
WHEN the last of their three children was about to leave home, my parents decided to buy a smaller house. The real-estate sign went up. A week later, a second "For Sale" sign appeared two doors away. "Soon you'll have new families on either side of you," my mother remarked to the neighbour whose house was in the middle. "We're thinking of putting up our own sign," she replied wistfully. "It would read: 'Was it something we said?'

Well, it made me feel better! I was feeling like a total odd ball and couldn't get my words together at times, but I see that I'm not the only one.

Curb Appeal! - 08/14/08 01:35 AM
We've all had that experience with a client where you drive up to a house and they don't even want to go inside. It's an immediate "un-appeal." You may know the inside of the house shows much better, but you just can't convince them to spend the time to even go inside. In today's market with lots of homes available to the buyer, why should they?
Here is a little list I give my clients to help them change the "un-appeal" to "curb-appeal". Some are easy, inexpensive fixes that will help create that outside look of the buyer's "dream home" and get … (9 comments)

Best deal in town!!! - 08/14/08 12:48 AM
One Sunday afternoon a couple sees an ad in the paper. They can't believe their eyes. There is a house in the paper for $1000 that is in the nicest part of town. We are talking about a Highland Park mansion for $1000. They think this has to be a misprint, but decide to call anyway. They said to lady who answers we saw your ad, and realize it is a misprint correct. She tells them no it's not & you are actually the first ones to call. They decide to go look at the house.
They race over as fast … (4 comments)

A heart warming story! - 08/02/08 02:48 PM
I had just left the office yesterday when the receptionist called and said there was a delivery there for me. I asked her what it was but she didn't say. She just said it will be waiting at the front desk for you. I was a little puzzled but made my rounds and turned back at the office right at closing time. I asked the receptionist where my delivery was. She smiled and pointed toward the edge of the desk. I walked where she was pointing looking for a UPS box or something to that effect and didn't see anything. I … (8 comments)
