Referrals - how you treat them - 10/25/08 11:57 PM
Hello everybody! I was just curious and wanted to pick your brain on what do you do when you get a referral? How do you reward your wonderful friend, past customer, neighbor, and everybody that thought enough of you and your service to send business your way?
Do you send out thank you cards, coupons, letters, a small gift? Let me now some of your ideas. I love when people go out of their way to help and I really want to show them that their help is very much appreciated so they can keep on remembering me and sending business my … (8 comments)

Should the seller consider a lease option? - 10/25/08 11:45 PM
The fact of the matter is that the market is slow and some houses are sitting on it for longer than usual. Some sellers are upside down on their loans, some have to move due to job relocation and don't have the luxury of paying two house payments, and the house value keeps going down the longer it sits on the market... What's a seller to do?!
On the other hand you have buyers that can't quite meet the credit requirements or the downpayment is just a little short of what is needed, closing costs are more than they can afford... … (0 comments)

Signs that Debt is Becoming a Threat - 10/25/08 11:42 PM
Is debt beginning to weigh you down? Keeping secrets about your spending habits and being afraid to admit even to yourself what you spend is one warning sign of too much debt. Here are a few more:
Minimum payment = Big problem. Making only the minimum payment on revolving credit accounts can increase the amount of interest you eventually pay. Paying off balances in a timelier manner can save on the amount of interest paid long term. Maxed out. Those who are near the limit with credit cards or making payments then charging back up to the same balance from the … (0 comments)

A Breath of Fresh Air - 10/25/08 11:33 PM
You've noticed a pattern - every time your heater cycles on to warm up your home, a musty odor invades. What can you do to improve the quality of the air you breathe? The US Environmental Protection Agency offers this advice for removing indoor pollutants that affect air quality:
Air Filters - A wide variety of air filters are available, ranging from table-top models to whole-house systems. The efficiency of these systems, which clean pollutants from the air, is largely dependent on the size of the system and the type of pollutant.
Source Control - Sometimes ti's possible to remove or … (0 comments)

Remember when the most frequently asked holiday question was if you had finished your shopping? In today's busy world, someone is just as likely to ask if you are an online shopper. Not surprisingly,  many people do shop online. Here are some tips to make your internet shopping secure.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, your best bet for secure online shopping is to use a credit card to pay. By doing so, if the purchase is not received or is defective, you can usually seek a credit from the card issuer. Another benefit? If your credit card information is stolen, … (0 comments)

Be Environmentally Aware and Make more Green! - 10/11/08 11:51 PM
Did you know that one tree could sustain you for life? A single mature tree absorbs enough carbon dioxide and releases enough oxygen to support two human beings. You can reduce the carbon imprint on the environment by planting a tree.
Do you know how to save 10,000 gallons of water this year? If every person in your household shaved 2 minutes of their shower time, each would save 10 gallons of water. Whith an average of three people per household and one shower per day, that's over 10,000 gallons.
What if you didn't have to buy light bulbs for 10 … (0 comments)

SEO Advise Needed - 10/11/08 10:12 PM
Sometimes I run into people that say they have a website, but they don't have it optimized under either SEO (Search Engine Optimization) or PPC (Pay-Per-Click). Someone compared that to buying business cards and then keeping them in their drawer, or making yard signs and keeping them in the garage. Because that is pretty much what you do when you have a website that it not optimized. It's like building a shopping mall in the desert. It may look pretty, but nobody will know about it. Well, I don't want to be one of those people with good websites that hide in the closet.
I am new … (8 comments)

Funny? Weird? Scary? True? - It turned out FUNNY - 10/09/08 07:54 PM
I just had one of my tenants move out at the end of September. I went in for the final inspection and put up the sign for rent in the front yard. The next day I went in with my workers to have a few repairs done and clean up the place. As I was inside making my "To do" list, one of the workers came in and told me that I had someone living under the house. I asked him: "What is it? A cat? Dog? How did it get in?" He shook his had and said "No, it's not an … (2 comments)

Do you get points for re-blogging? - 10/08/08 07:57 PM
I noticed that one of our members that had not been active for a while suddenly jumped up 1400 points. I figured she posted some new blogs and went to check them out. She did post several blogs, but 3 or 4 of them were re-postings of other bloggers. Rather than saying that this was a re-post, she put a link to the original bloggers' sites at the top of the posted piece to give them credit. So, there isn't any plagiarism since she's given credit to the real authors, but by giving the credit through the link instead of checking that this was … (6 comments)

A little advise for the new agents - 10/04/08 09:50 PM
I went to the office last Sunday afternoon to catch up with some paperwork. As I sat in the quiet office trying to hurry up and finish another one of our agents walked in, a lady that has been in the business for 30+ years. She has the perfect "grandma" look, gray hair, petite, soft spoken, and always wears a beautiful smile. I take advantage of any oportunity I get to tap into her experience. I asked her if she ever looked back into the years she's been in the business and if she has any regrets or if she would've done anything … (3 comments)

Keeping a Clean Fireplace - 10/04/08 08:30 PM
Fall is a great time to get your wood-burning fireplace ready for winter. You can start with the relatively easy task of cleaning the fireplace, the lower part of the chimney and the masonry. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind:
Use a plastic drop cloth for the floor surrounding the fireplace; put on some old clothes perfect for cleaning; and place a large trash can next to you to collect the debris and soot. Remove the andirons and grate and scrape them with a wire brush. If they are brass, consider a special brass cleaner. After checking that … (4 comments)

Are federal loan programs right for you? - 10/04/08 06:38 PM
FHA LoansFHA loans are made through an approved lender and insured by the Federal Housing Administration. They are a great fit for buyers with low to moderate income and limited savings. The loans offer down payments as low as 3 percent and have flexible income, debt and credit requirements to help qualified borrowers. In addition, FHA loan down payments and closing costs may be funded by a gift, grant or secured loan. Other features of FHA loans that may help you include the choice of predictable fixed-rate payments or adjustable-rate products and the ability to assume over the seller's existing mortgage, … (0 comments)

Even Fixed-Rate Mortgage Payments Change - 10/04/08 06:31 PM
One of the main benefits of a fixed-rate loan is that your monthly principal and interest payment will not change, no matter what happens to interest rates. However, that does not mean that your monthly mortgage payment will remain the same thru the entire term of the loan. Why? Because your monthly payment includes more than just the principal (P) and interest (I). It also includes taxes (T) and insurance (I) for which payments can and will vary from year to year.
If you mortgage payment includes your property taxes and insurance premiums, your lender will put these funds in an escrow … (0 comments)

Parenting Issues - 10/04/08 03:28 PM
I took my little girls to their gymnastics class today same as I do every Saturday morning. Halfway thru the class I got a phone call so I went out to my car to answer so wouldn't disturb the other parents in the waiting room. As I was sitting in the car with the windows slightly open, I saw one of the mothers walk out with her daughter, which looked to be about 10 or 11 years old. She dragged her out by her arm, pushed her against the wall and started shouting at her that her performance was "absolutely ridiculous … (0 comments)
