While I strongly feel a good correction will only strengthen the market further in the long run, it is always a little surprising when the numbers come out. 
Pending Homes Sales Fell 12.2% in July from the month before and 16% from a year ago.  The National Association of Realtor's Pending Home Sales Index, based on contracts signed in July, fell to a reading of 89.9, the lowest since September 2001 when the index stood at 89.8.  I also should state that this number is for contracts that have not closed yet.  This is a good indicator for home sales moving forward as these … (3 comments)

mortgage: 100 Major U.S. Lenders have now gone under since late 2006 - 07/20/07 05:42 PM
While I am sure that everybody is tired of hearing about the sub-prime meltdown.  It looks like this is now spreading over to the Alt-A lenders as well.  Since June 1st of this year, 13 Alt-A lenders from wholesale to retail have closed their doors.  In total over 100 lenders have now gone under since late 2006.  While I hate to see a business have to close its doors, one can only see this as an opportunity to distinguish themselves from the rest.  Unfortunately, not only are the employees of these companies feeling the impact but also the consumers that were working with … (0 comments)
