More Great News for the Space Coast: Boeing to Build Commercial Aircraft at Space Center - 10/31/11 02:48 PM
Boeing Corp. has agreed to lease part of the old shuttle assembly building for a minimum of fifteen years...and an option for an additional five years. They will bring 550 high tech jobs back to the Kennedy Space Center. This is the first in what appears to be a long list of companies that NASA the KSC is negotiating with to bring the KSC back to full operation.
The NASA plans are to have the KSC open to both private government jobs as well as the fairly new commercial space industry.
Here is the article on NASA.gov that explains today's announcement:

The Coral Palm Condo in Indialantic, FL is not only a beautiful well located beachfront building...it is close to everything from shopping (Walmart, Winn Dixie grocery store, Publix, and much more) to parks (Canova Beach Park and Paradise Beach Park are both close by), restaurants, hotels, live music (Lou's Blues is within walking distance) and much more.

Space Coast Neighborhood Series: TreeTop Village - 10/27/11 01:42 PM

TreeTop Village in Melbourne Beach (South Beaches) is a very unique development that is truly like nothing else you will see on the entire Space Coast. It is a development that was designed to fit into its natural surroundings and not overpower it. The best description I can give is that the neighborhood looks like a bunch of cabins that you might find when searching for vacation rental cabins on a lake in Upstate NY.
TreeTop Village homes were built in the mid-1980's so the trees are high and make for great shade. The homes and neighborhood are well maintained...and … (0 comments)

Space Coast Parks & Recreation Series: Ryckman Park, Melbourne Beach, FL - 10/24/11 03:45 PM

Melbourne Beach is a small City in the southern portion of the Brevard County Florida beach area. It is a quaint place...originally founded in 1883...that has retained much of the charm of a turn of the Century hamlet. The period homes and businesses harmonize nicely with newer buildings and homes...many of which have been constructed with a nod to early 1900's architecture.
My favorite spot in Melbourne Beach is Ryckman Park. The park is loaded with amenities. Tennis courts, basketball court,  multiple children's playgrounds (including rubber chips), gazebos, BBQ areas, fishing (the western portion of the park is bordered by … (3 comments)

Space Coast Restaurant Review: Doubles Beachside, Indian Harbour Beach, FL - 10/22/11 02:48 PM

So I am always willing to share my favorites...fav pizza place, fav BBQ, fav Happy Hour...etc... Well my favorite sandwich shop by far is Doubles Beachside in Indian Harbour Beach.
First, a little history. Doubles Hoagies opened in 1983 (across the street from the present location). It was a small sub shop that (from someone who came once a week back in the 80's) was always packed. I was very happy when the new Doubles opened. It is a very large space that has plenty of tables, pool tables, a bar inside the sub shop as well as a separate … (0 comments)

Space Coast Parks and Recreation Series: Orlando Park, Indialantic, FL - 10/20/11 02:35 PM

Indialantic, FL is a very interesting community. The first thing you need to know about the area before moving here is that it has two very distinct parts...one...Indialantic by the Sea is really Indialantic proper...that is the City. The other area in really part of the County of Brevard and not part of the City. The folks who live in the City of Indialantic by the Sea will be happy to point out the boundaries to you...lol
In the City the place to live near...especially if you have children (keep in mind all the schools that feed Indialantic are "A-rated" … (0 comments)

When it Comes to Real Estate...Does it Matter Who Wins the Presidential Race? - 10/19/11 08:59 AM
I occasionally get into conversations about real estate with people...in fact the minute they find out I am a Realtor (wear your badge and this will happen even more often) they begin asking questions. Usually...How is the market? Are you selling anything right now? and many more questions come up...but lately I have been asked how I think a change in President might change the market.
I think this is a fair question.
I know most people have strong opinions on each of the Republican candidates...and also have opinions either way on President Obama. My opinion is strictly based on how … (3 comments)

Space Coast Restaurant Review: Smokey Bones, Melbourne, FL - 10/18/11 01:25 PM

Do you like BBQ?
Maybe a place that you can watch a big game and enjoy some good BBQ, Cold Beer and decent prices?
Smokey Bones in Melbourne, FL directly in front of the Melbourne Square Mall on Rt 192 might just be the place for you. Smokey Bones has some great beer specials (pitchers of Bud Lite, Miller Lite or Coors Lite...for $6). They also have PBR buckets for only $5. Smokey Bones is a chain of restaurants that has other locations throughout Florida.
The food is standard BBQ options like ribs, rings, pulled pork, burgers, lots of sauce … (1 comments)

Space Coast Neighborhood Series: The Sanctuary - 10/05/11 12:12 PM

The Sanctuary is one of my favorite communities in the South Brevard Beach area. It is located in Indialantic...just south of the Eau Gallie Causeway. The location is ideal for those commuting to the mainland side...while still allowing VERY close proximity to the beaches.
The Sanctuary is a gated community that has a nice array of amenities. A clubhouse that includes activities like happy hours and meeting facilities...two tennis courts for residents...and a community pool that is open nightly until 10pm (note: no lifeguards). The Sanctuary feeds all "A-Rated" schools from elementary through high school so this is a very … (3 comments)

Space Coast Restaurant Review: Del's Freez, Melbourne, FL - 10/04/11 01:12 PM

When I was young and growing up in NY, we had a couple of ice cream joints....you know the ones...drive up only, get out of the car and walk up to the window to order...nothing fancy...just delicious ice cream shakes, cones, sundaes, etc... In my hometown these places are long gone...but in Melbourne, FL one still exists and the name is Del's Freez (freeze).
Del's opened in 1956 so when you are sitting at one of the outdoor tables you are likely to see a grandpa, dad and son all talking about the first time they came and enjoyed the … (3 comments)

Space Coast Restaurant Review: Squid Lips, Melbourne, FL - 10/01/11 01:21 PM

Situated on an almost perfect strip of land for an outdoor riverfront restaurant...Squid Lips is a local favorite for those looking to enjoy a warm evening or sit out on the river on a sunny weekend.
The location of Squid Lips is 1477 Pineapple Ave in Melbourne...on the corner of the Eau Gallie Causeway and the western side of the Intracoastal Waterway...it is easily accessible from the beach or the mainland.
Squid Lips has three distinct features that make it a fun place for all:
A Huge outside deck area that often has live music and good drinks and appetizers.
A large … (1 comments)
