Space Coast Restaurant Series: Robburrito's - 06/30/12 11:05 AM
My boy and I like to go to the Melbourne Beach Library...we pick up lots of books and movies to enjoy. We noticed that across the street from the library was a burrito joint called Robburrito's...my boy told me he wanted to give it a try...and even reminded me that we needed to try the food so I could blog about it! We decided to head over to Robburrito's for lunch. The first thing you will notice when you pass through the front door is the decor. This is 1960's Rock and Roll heaven...if you are, or ever where a

Fun Things to Do on the Space Coast: King Center in Melbourne, FL - 06/26/12 10:20 AM
The Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts is the premier center in Brevard County for viewing plays, shows and concerts. The center is attached to Melbourne's Brevard Community College campus on Wickham Rd south of Pineda. We always have a wonderful group of shows scheduled. Upcoming events include the musical Oklahoma, Menopause the Musical, the classic album series (which has the Beatles Rubber Soul and Revolver album) and the band Creed. I have seen top acts like Tony Bennett, Bill Cosby, Gregg Allman and much more taking there turn at the King Center Stage. Parking is easy and

Space Coast History: Kennedy Space Center - 06/22/12 08:27 AM
Though most folks know the Space Coast was named for the fact that the Kennedy Space Center is located here, they seem to know little about the facility itself beyond the rocket launches. For starters...the size of KSC itself is incredible! It is 34 miles long and about 6 miles wide...covering approximately 219 square miles! To give you a reference point Manhattan Island (NYC) is 22.7 square miles and about 13.4 miles long and 2.3 miles wide (just over 1/10th the size of KSC). Only about 9% of the land is public access land...the rest is restricted. All U.S. manned

A Plea to Those Who Love Starbucks! - 06/20/12 07:57 AM
If you read my blog at all you know I use Starbucks quite a bit...in fact it is really my second office! My boy is with me for the summer and he goes to Starbucks in the morning with me (and reads his book). A few days ago he pointed out to me that I was killing trees by getting a paper cup each morning...and wanted me to buy a Starbucks coffee mug so I could reuse it each day when I got my coffee. After being guilt-ed (he is worse than my Mother) into buying the $7.95 mug, I

Space Coast Business Spotlight: Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach - 06/19/12 10:57 AM
It sometimes seems that more out of town friends know that the Space Coast is the headquarters of Ron Jon Surf Shop...than know that all the U.S. rockets take off from here! They don't call themselves "World Famous Ron Jon Surf Shop" for nothing! Ron Jon in Cocoa Beach is an absolutely enormous Surf Shop with everything you could ever want in beachwear surf equipment...all in one store. You can shop them 7 days a week, 24 hours a day! They have some amazing sales and closeouts on bathing suits for both men and women...and they have a very large

Space Coast Restaurant Review: City Tropics in Indialantic - 06/12/12 07:09 AM
I really like to hang out at City Tropics. It has a great location (just west of the beach on 5th Ave), an amazing happy hour, really cool indoor/outdoor bars and a large array of food options so you can usually accommodate everyone in a group. The food is decent and includes both normal bar food (burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc...) as well as a full menu and a sushi bar! The seating area is large and includes indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large sliding glass wall that allows them to take advantage of our wonderful Florida weather.

Best Place to See the Transit of Venus on the Space Coast - 06/04/12 11:36 AM
The Transit of Venus will be a big event for anyone into star and planet gazing. On June 5th at sunset it will be visible on the entire East Coast of the U.S (check the website link for the best time in your area). This will be the only time the transit (Venus passing in front of the Sun) will be visible from Earth until 2117...so if you miss it you will not be likely to see it again unless you live another 105 years...lol here is a link to the NASA website. It is full of info on the Transit
