Wickham Park is the Granddaddy of all the Brevard County parks. It is an enormous 391 acre park located between Wickham Rd, Croton and Post Rd...butting up against the Eastern Florida State Collage campus in Melbourne.

Many people who visit the Space Coast do so for a variety of reasons...maybe they want to see a rocket launch....some come for our great weather...the beach calls many here...surfing is a big draw...and of course Brevard County is a great place to see a manatee or sea turtles.

We seem to have parks for everything here on the Space Coast. We have beach parks, sports parks, workout trails, picnic areas, recreation centers, places for manatees and much more.
Oars and Paddles Park in Indian Harbour Beach, FL is a park that was designed for those who enjoy any type of paddle boating. It is in fact available for any non-motorized boating (the boat ramp in the park is not for any type of motorized boats).

The City of Palm Bay has some very nice parks and recreation options. One of my favorites is Goode Park. I like this park for many reasons...not the least of which is the great Manatee veiwing during the season.
This park is loaded with recreation options including:

Melbourne Beach, FL has a few very nice oceanfront parks, and Coconut Point Park is one of my favorites.
Let me give you the reasons I drive about eight miles south of my home to come here:
1. Hardly anyone is ever on this beautiful stretch of beach ( see photo).
2. Private covered picnic area...my boy and I love coming here.
3. Clean bathrooms
4. Outside showers to get the sand off.
5. Tons of parking.
6. Breathtaking sunrise views.

The Eau Gallie Causeway is one of three bridges that can take people from the mainland to the Brevard County beachside from the Melbourne, FL area. The causeway bridge itself is a large fixed bridge...so it never needs to rise to allow large boats to go under (in fact...all three Melbourne area bridges are fixed).
The 1.4 acre park and boat ramp on the southeast side of the bridge is capable of handling small craft boats and watercraft (you will often see folks on jet ski and with windsurfing gear as well).

Gleason Park is a large beachside park in Indian Harbour Beach (just a couple of miles from my home). It is located about half way between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean. The park offers some beautiful boardwalks, a sitting area, a small lake, a fitness track, a pool (public) and a large indoor area for meetings...and even voting. My boy and I love to come to the park and just check out the birds, fish...and even a gator or two.

Hoover Athletic Complex is a huge group of athletic fields that is connected to Hoover Middle school at 2000 Hawk Haven Drive in Indialantic, FL.
The complex includes these activities:
SoftballSoccerBaseballVolleyballRacquetball Courtsan Exercise Trail6 lighted Tennis CourtsLighted Softball fieldsThis multi-purpose complex offers league games for adults and children.

To start off with...Ocean Park in Melbourne Beach, FL has one of the nicest strips of beach on the Space Coast. It is a beautiful wide beach with a nice shelf so you can walk out quite a distance without sinking beneath the waves!
The park has a Gazebo, lots of covered picnic tables, free parking, beach access as well as public outside showers to get the sand off after you have taken a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.

I have been writing about and updating the progress of the new beachfront park just north of Eau Gallie Causeway and east of A1A in Indian Harbour Beach...the name is Irene H. Canova Park.
It may have taken a while (eleven years to be exact between lawsuits, bad contractors and money issues with the County...) but it is now complete and ready for the enjoyment of Brevard County residents and tourists!

If you ever travel down Eau Gallie Blvd to the beach...you know that at the very end of Eau Gallie you will run directly into Canova Beach Park right on the Indian Harbour Beach / Indialantic border.

Along the south side of the Melbourne Causeway as the bridge begins to head to the beach and Indialantic...a small park exists that is one of my absolute favorite spots in the Harbor City. The park is called Kiwanis Park at Geiger Point...and it is a perfect place to have a picnic, begin your run over the bridge and back...or just view the beautiful picturesque setting from this cool little park that seems to jut out into the middle of the Indian River.

Claude Edge Front Street Park is a heavily used park that fits in directly on the west side of the Indian River...and the south side of the Melbourne Causeway.The address of the park is:

I love Historic Downtown Melbourne...it has really come a long way from when first moved here in the mid-80s. One of my favorite places to hang out when I am trying to view the beautiful (in an ugly sort of way) Manatees (some call them sea cows) is Bean Park. The Manatee is on the endangered species list so this is a real treat for us here in on the Space Coast.

The construction of the new beach park at the site of the old Patsy's Shell Shop just north of Eau Gallie Blvd on A1A in Indian Harbour Beach is nearing completion. The roof needs to be put on the two structures that have been built (what appears to be bathroom facilities and a BBQ area). The parking lot has been finished and some planting will be done. Melbourne Beach is a small City in the southern portion of the Brevard County Florida beach area. It is a quaint place...originally founded in 1883...that has retained much of the charm of a turn of the Century hamlet. The period homes and businesses harmonize nicely with newer buildings and homes...many of which have been constructed with a nod to early 1900's architecture.

Indialantic, FL is a very interesting community. The first thing you need to know about the area before moving here is that it has two very distinct parts...one...Indialantic by the Sea is really Indialantic proper...that is the City. The other area in really part of the County of Brevard and not part of the City. The folks who live in the City of Indialantic by the Sea will be happy to point out the boundaries to you...lol
