For those of you who live in Southern Ohio...you have 39 days to get your taste buds ready and your walking shoes warmed up!
For those of you who've never been to The Pumpkin Show, but have thought about it...keep reading to find out why you should make the trip and why you'll continue to make the trip every year thereafter!
The Pumpkin Show is one of Ohio's oldest and largest festivals. It is held each year in Circleville Ohio during the 3rd week of October. The dates for the 2008 Circleville Pumpkin Show are: Wednesday, October 15th through Saturday, October 18th.
Here are some Circleville Pumpkin Show facts taken from the official Pumpkin Show website:
Offers 25-30 Amusement Rides and over 300 Food Booths, Games, and Vendor Exhibits.
Atrracts over 400,000 visitors during the 4-day event to the small community of 12,000 people.
More than 40 floats and 50 bands participate in the 7 Pumpkin Show parades, each with a different theme.
More than 250 volunteers who serve on over 20 committees contribute their time and effort in order to make the Pumpkin Show a success.
Approximately 23,000 pumpkin pies and 100,000 pumpkin donuts are sold during the 4-day event.
There are 100,000 pounds of pumpkins, squash and gourds on the street display, located in the center of downtown Circleville.
Lindsay's Bakery makes the World's Largest Pumpkin Pie each year and is on display in their window.
The food alone has become a tradition for many visitors to make a yearly trip to the Pumpkin Show. Aside from the traditional fair food:
Pizza, Fried Vegetables, French Fries, Fried Cheese, Steak Sandwiches, Hobo Chicken Sandwiches, Hamburgers, Corn Dogs, Hot Dogs, Reubens, Gyro's, Soups, Sandwiches, Ice Cream and Sweets for all of us with a sweet-tooth.
But it also has our traditional fair food that you'll find only at the Pumpkin Show:
You know, it's nothing these days to hear everyone sharing their right for Freedom of Speech. Which overall I think is great. For the most part, we get to hear opinions and share thoughts without getting upset with each other. And we can agree to disagree.
With that thought in mind, I'd like to share with you a comment that I came across on MySpace. The comment is from a Christian Rapper who slammed the Government in a couple of his songs.
His blog says: "I stand corrected" (DISCLAIMER)
In it, he has his own comment along with these several scriptures: 2nd Timothy 3:16...........All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rapper Comments: "Sometimes even as ministers and keepers of the Gospel we must be corrected and rebuked! So therefore I stand here corrected. On my 2005 (H2O) "What" "Questions" and 2006(Even Louder) "Amen" releases I go real hard and begin to bash our government/president. I begin to rap about how I believed that this person was controlled by evil forces and what not. Now I'm not into politics as much as I should be. I was speaking of things that I knew very little of. Although, I do believe that a lot of things that go on in this country are wrong. Now that I think about it, I don't believe it was my place to bring slander on our president's name. I just wanted to apologize to those who I may have offended and to my ongoing listeners. Although, things may not be 100 % perfect in America I am very fortunate to live here. YAH bless!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"
Romans 13:2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves
Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
"There's no need for anymore scripts, you get my point! Philippians 1:6 YAH isn't done with me y'all"
As I was reading his blog, I thought don't we all get carried away sometimes with our pointing fingers and blaming of someone? And then it dawned on me...who we should really be blaming. So, I wrote him a comment that says:
I took some time to read your blogs this morning & just wanted to comment on the "I Stand Corrected" blog you wrote.
My point of view has been...that it's easy for all of us to blame the Government in all its levels for failing or coming up short in certain situations.
Our Government was started by men who honored God, believed in Him and followed His guidelines & commandments, which helped them structure our initial policies in the US.
God's enemy & our enemy has been fighting to destroy the US from the inside out ever since our declaration of a free nation UNDER GOD began.
Our enemy has been behind the corruption we as Christians see taking hold in our society and even in our Governments (local, state, and national). Unfortunately, our enemy's goal is to kill and destroy from the inside out. And more unfortunate than that...we have people in our society who are willing to allow themselves to be the vessel to accomplish our enemy's goals. Some realize they are his vessel and are willing to do his destructive work. Others don't realize the lies and deceit our enemy is placing in their minds and hearts in order to gain access to their actions, thoughts and words. All need our prayers, not necessarily our condemnation.
As for those who are or have been bashing our President, my only thought is this. God has allowed for President Bush to be in his position. The President is a praying man of God and works hard at upholding God's principals and what he feels God's asking of him.
The President does this on a daily basis despite the fact that he is surrounded by an enemy, the same enemy that God has and we have also. The same enemy who fights dirty and underhanded in order to win, get his way and destroy us.
The way I view it is...the US has been Blessed with another 4 years of having a Godly man sitting in the Commander & Chiefs chair. The next 4 years we may not be as fortunate. At least our current President believes in God and believes in taking a stand with Israel. He may not agree with everything they do, but he realizes we need to keep our eyes on the middle east, not only as a nation, but as a Christian.
He needs our prayers, not our pointing fingers. Remember he's surrounded by the enemy and there's a weekly battle going on throughout the Senate and House to fight him on policies he believes in. He may not always be right. But, are any of us? I know I fall short daily at being Christ-like and making all the right decisions. That's what God's forgiveness, grace and mercy is all about. Because we aren't perfect, does that mean we should be mocked and hurt? I don't think so. I feel the President needs our prayers to uplift him in his decisions, to strengthen him in his convictions and wisdom in God's word to guide him and help him make good decisions...because after all, they do affect us, do they not.
The enemy has already accomplished taking prayer out of schools and removing the pledge of allegiance to the flag. He's working on having the words "Under God" removed from everything...money, courthouses and more! Sometimes prayer is all we can do when the fight is not in our hands. And some of these fights are not within our power. That's why we all need to vote for the next election. Vote for who you feel would be the least likely candidate to oppose God's commandments. Unfortunately, we don't have another term for a man of God such as President Bush. The rest of the fight for the white house is in God's hands. Our job is to vote.
May God Bless you abundantly for following your convictions and writing an apology.
I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments. And I'd love to hear your points of view if you'd like to share them.
Are you so distracted with everything else going on in your life that you find it hard to stay focused? With the daily demands on our time, it's no wonder we're not focused.
Let's take a look at how we can change and get & stay on track!
If you're like me, your Outlook calendar is the first thing you look at each morning. Instead of jotting down notes, which lay all over our desks; begin adding ALL of your information into your Outlook calendar. Scheduling in all of the details of your life will help you stay on track. And if you've got to be the one to remember your spouse's appointments to the Doctor or your children's practice schedule, you definitely need to make room for it in your calendar. Having to try and retain all of your activity in a week is exhausting in itself, but adding activities for others is too much to try and wrap your head around.
Adding the schedules of others into your Outlook calendar can be simple. Add a label to the name of your spouse or child, then add a splash of color for them; such as Aqua. So, when you look at your calendar and notice an Aqua color swatch on your calendar this week, you'll quickly recognize the appointment as being one for your child or spouse.
When you're scheduling out travel time for yourself or others, be sure to add in the driving time to your schedule. If your hair appointment is at 6:30 and it takes you 30 minutes to get to your hairdresser's shop, schedule it into your calendar for 6:00. Of course you'll want to add a reminder for yourself that will pop up about 15 minutes before you are to leave so it will give you enough time to prepare to head out the door.
Written reminders are great, but they're not going to work if you can't find them on a messy desk. So, if you don't have a cell phone that allows you to sync your Outlook calendar, be sure you're using a written schedule to keep yourself on track. At-A-Glance has some great day planners that could be of help and you can easily pick them up at your local office supply store.
Setting daily priorities for youself is also a great way to stay focused and not forget anything...even if your priority for today is going to the grocery store for milk. Having even the most trivial of information floating around in your subconscientious is distracting and is enough to keep you off focus.
Add phone calls that you need to make to your calendar. Not only will it remind you of who you need to call, but it also blocks out time for you to make that call.
Are you always forgetting your grocery list on the kitchen counter? Add your grocery list to Tasks or Notes in your Outlook calendar. If you're using At-A-Glance, there's a place for you to make notes also.
And above all else, don't forget to schedule your free time. Blocking out your family time or some down time for yourself will keep you from adding too much into your weekly schedule. Your mind and body need a rest also!
Carrying around your information, or as I like to call it...my brain, will help you stay focused and stay on track for the day. Writing EVERYTHING down will help keep your mind from over-load. And may make room for other things; maybe even some creativity will blossom!
Give yourself the freedom to focus on reaching your goals. And when necessary, adjust your plan.
Judges 7:7 – The Lord said to Gideon, “I will deliver you with the 300 men who lapped”.
This passage illustrates an important point: God is looking for people who will “stand”. When the hosts of Midian came against the Israelites, Gideon gathered together a large army of 32,000 men. Then God reduced them to a mere handful. Of the 32,000, there were only 300 hundred whom God could trust. He saw that they were men who would stand and never quit, so He dismissed the rest. And with just a small army of three hundred, He proceeded to discomfit and rout the Midianites.
God has always done His greatest work in and through a comparatively small number of people. This is why, when it comes to spiritual victories, we forget the idea of numbers. What God wants is men and women who are prepared to “stand”, whose feet are “shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”. He will not entrust great responsibility to people whom He knows will not “stand”, for that would be an exercise in fruitlessness.
Are you standing for God – in the environment in which God has put you? Or are you ready to stand? You cannot stand until you are prepared to stand. It begins with a firm attitude which then issues into resolute action. As in Gideon’s day, the Lord is looking for people who will take their stand on His Word, come what may, and commit themselves to doing what He asks even though they may not feel like it or see the sense of it. Are you such a one? If you are, then I predict that ahead of you is an exciting spiritual adventure.
Let’s Pray:
O God, help me not to miss the highest because of my spiritual unpreparedness. Help me to be ready for all that You have for me – even before I see it. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Phishing is the term used for email fraud threat, which continues to grow with each passing day.
Phishing is deception, designed to steal your sensitive personal or financial information; such as personal data, such as credit card numbers, passwords, and account data.
Phishing costs consumers millions of dollars a year in identity theft cases. And it works by showing one URL address in an email, when in fact, if you click on the link it will take you to another URL.
Phishing causes havoc for those of us in legitimate businesses around the world who are trying to send emails to our customers and clients.
So, how can the rest of us get our emails delivered and not look like a scam artist? Let's take a look!
When you are sending an email to a customer, client or group of subscribers, don't type out the web address that you want your recipients to click on.
Instead, make a phrase, image or word in the content body of your email a link that your consumers can click.
You'll get more of your emails delivered by including the link within the body of your email because ISPs won't consider it a phishing email or you a scammer.

Timely follow-up is key to gaining revenue for you and your business.
Whether you've captured a new customer's information or are keeping in touch with an existing client, follow-up will help keep your name on the minds of others.
The less time consuming and most cost-effective way to follow-up with your customers or clients is with autoresponders.
Autoresponders allow you to create a series of messages for all of your contacts and send them directly into their inbox. You can make categories for different customers or clients and then send specific messages to each category.
You can set up messages to go out on a daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly or yearly basis. Whether you're promoting yourself or your business, products, and services; there is an autoresponder provider that will fit your needs.
Most autoresponders offer plain text format or html. And if you're not an html guru, not to worry. The majority of autoresponders have templates to help you make a professional looking layout.
Not only are you saving yourself time with an autoresponder, but you're keeping in touch with your contact database in an efficient and timely manner.
Staying in front of your customers and clients equals recognition and potential profit.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 says – Stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught.
Christians need to stand with their feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. The moment we begin to compromise on the Word of God and the great truths of the gospel, we shall not only slide in the understanding of our faith but also in its practice.
Permit me to say a word to those who have been in the Christian life for just a short time. Now that you are a Christian, take your stand unflinchingly on the Lord's side. When you meet your old friends – those you used to hang around with in the days before you came to know the Lord – and they propose that you go on doing the things you used to do that you know are not in harmony with God's Word, then be resolute and refuse. Take a firm stand, and watch that you do not slip toward them. Have your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
The first thing that strikes everyone who comes into the Christian life is that it is entirely different from one's former life. You must determine to take your stand with Jesus Christ, and when others tempt you, say: "I cannot betray my Lord. I am bound to Him for all eternity. My feet are shod and I am not moving." You have to know what you believe and be resolute and determined to stand for it – come way may. If I had not done this in the days following my conversion to Christ, then I would have forfeited an adventure that has taken me deeper and deeper into God.
Let's Pray: O God, how can I have faith in You unless I have faith in the words You have spoken to me in the Bible? Help me stand firm in the faith – today and every day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
