My original questions was to find out: What is the beginning date and time and the ending date and time of the AR blog week. Then, similar to preachers who start out with one sermon and then end up preaching a different one--the true message over rode my intended humor and jest. I was on a roll last week. I started blogging pointlessly. Many of us say that points do not matter. I don't think I have ever come near 10 blogs in a (5 comments)
active rain: 85,000 Points Seemed Impossible - 09/04/08 09:44 AM
Today is an Active Rain right of passage for me. I remember in the beginning, looking at the Active Rain Celebrities and thinking, first of all--I would never get there. Well, I am not a celebrity, still starting from 0, 85K is not bad. Many others have started later than me and progressed farther...But, I am happy. In my journey to my personal landmark, I learned SO much along the way. In almost 2 years of off and on blogging, reading and commenting I have seen many changes take place with Active Rain and Localism. The absolute best added feature in (8 comments)
active rain: Early Morning Fire|Check Fire Alarms, NOW! - 04/24/08 08:48 AM
Sunday, April 20th, around 4:30 AM I was awakened by what I thought was the sound of my son gagging. He had been ill a couple of days before, so I got up to check on him. I also thought I smelled burnt popcorn. I remember wondering why my daughter was microwaving popcorn so early in the morning. When I got up and went through the kitchen, no one had microwaved popcorn. My son was in the bathroom and was okay, and not sick. He said he had not been coughing. No one in the house had been gagging. The (21 comments)
active rain: iREPORT|CNN U Blog (This is a Public Blog) - 03/10/08 01:46 AM
Now this is fun. If you have not already registered for blogging at ireport.com -- you might want to do that while its in beta . This is not a real estate focused blog site (this could actually be good for us.) We can hide from vendors that troll REALTOR blog sites (other than a Active Rain of course). Simply go to http://ireport.com .Then register before you do your first blog. The blog format is still a little rough around the edges. Have any of you already been posting to iREPORT? I know there are many great writers here at AR who could (6 comments)
active rain: Active Rain|Vendors - 02/14/08 09:14 AM
*Note: This is an Active Rain Public Posting I believe Vendor advertising at Active Rain is a good idea. I hope that it will help defray the numerous disrupting B2B telemarketing calls I receive. My highest recommendation for any service you may provide a REALTOR, is to advertise it here, then leave us in peace. Do not use us to develop your call list. Just in case you are a vendor reading this announcement, this is what I have to say: Please do not call me, not on any number you see posted anywhere on the web. The contact #'s are for the (1 comments)
active rain: You Can Make a Difference and it will only cost some time and a little Pain - 12/20/07 01:50 PM
REALTORS--Do you ever write a blog and wish beyond anything that this one would be Featured? That this is actually a Life and Death situation and that the more people who know about it the greater chance of a difference, an impact being made? This is one of those times that I wish I were a better writer and more impressive blogger... But, you know what? Even a few people who read this blog and act on it can make a difference. I believe in the Power of God, I also believe in the Internet Power that Active Rain/Localism has. Please, if (65 comments)
active rain: Notify Me of New Comments (X) - 11/07/07 11:56 PM
It doesn't take long as an Active Rain member to realize you really don't need to be notified each time a response has been made to a blog you commented on. It can get very distracting, especially if you are in the middle of commenting on a blog, developing a blog, or involved in other REal work:-) . AR provides a couple of simple fixes. #1--Change your personal email settings (you can always check your AR home page periodically for comment updates) , #2--uncheck the "Notify me of new comments box" . Let's say hypothetically you spotted a great blog early on, (22 comments)
active rain: Sharing a secret... - 10/04/07 03:21 PM
I hesitate to share a personal experience--but, what I learned may be helpful to someone else, so here goes. Last night, my husband... (kidding the ROARING and Lovely Broker's Wife) Sometimes, I am not always "nice". Recently a credit card company that I use primarily for business raised my rate 2% after selling to another company. I did not appreciate that one bit. So, I called them. Me--"What's with this? You buy my account and increase my interest by 2 points? You're off to a great start. That stinks. I want my old rate back." Them--Silence. CSR comes back on the line and says, "Okay, (1 comments)
active rain: Do You want to Have Some Fun? Calling all Associates... - 10/02/07 11:35 AM
Recently I have held the AR 1st place in Mississippi--off and on. Damion has been busy, so its been Jeff Fulgham and I playing cat and mouse. I am going to be busy as soon as I complete this post. I know I'll fall behind, I just hope not too much. (Oh, muse--where is the inspiration for a feature when I need it?) So, if you want to amuse yourself, stop by Mississippi for this good natured competition for the top place. I don't even know if it makes a difference in anything, I just want to hold 1st place for (5 comments)
active rain: Associate, Subscribe, Bookmark - 09/20/07 06:49 PM
For awhile I lost touch with my associates. It was my own fault. Somehow I had checked the "most recent" buttonfor blog posts. The new blogs caught my attention. After awhile I discovered I was missing some of my associates and started clicking on my associate buttons to find that many were still posting great blogs, I had just missed them by not moving from the "most recent" blog button. Going through my associates I smiled when I saw: Rich Jacobson and Leanne Paynter They were the first to welcome me to Active Rain and actually read and comment on a post. (6 comments)
active rain: Would You Admit It? - 09/17/07 01:15 AM
Do you ever catch yourself ARaining when you had actually planned to do something else productive with your time? Many blogs (I reference the Active Rain Search bar) discuss the addiction. Now I rationalize. It isn't REALly an addiction if it doesn't have a negative effect on your life. For example, if you are not late for deadlines or appointments, your time at Active Rain is not an addiction. For instance, I have a couple of REsearch projects I could be working on--but, don't have to work on right now. There are 5 activities REAL Estate RElated that I will work on tomorrow (18 comments)
active rain: The Family - 07/31/07 12:41 AM
Let's bring some REality to Active Rain. Behind the professional photos we see--there has got to be "Kodak" moments with family. If you feel comfortable posting photos of your family, give us your best 2 to 4 shots with taglines. This idea was formed during construction of My recent MEME . Sandra Cummings responded with some family photos of her sons . I enjoyed that. Then I also remembered seeing adorable new born pictures posted by Jeffery Prevatte, REALTOR, ABR Fayetteville, NC of his son. Then I remembered reading a profile of an Active Rain Newbie , Jesse Bridges in which he mentioned he and his wife has a (6 comments)
active rain: MEME with *Photos* A look at Blessings - 07/30/07 11:11 AM
I am a little slow to respond to Sandra Cummings gracious Memeing of me. A Meme is important! How many times do you get a chance to tell folks about 5 important things you want them to know about yourself? Well, in marketing and Active Rain, you may actually get several chances, or even make your own--but you have to admit a MEME is different. Someone "out there" is actually saying, "we would like to know more about you." I was referred to: So, I could learn by example as a MEME has a bit of "technique" to it. I also (6 comments)
active rain: Active Rain Tab - 07/22/07 10:55 PM
So, I am really enjoying the multi-tab features on Internet Explorer. Think about this... I get the creative idea of saving time by putting: Tab 1=Active Rain, Tab 2= MGC.MLX, Tab 3= http://mgcre.com(my website always in the works), Tab 4= REliberation, Tab 5= agentsonline.net , Tab 6= Http://hud.gov and any other website I may be using frequently at any given time. (not me) The problem is--Getting distracted when I open to Active Rain. There is always an interesting title beckoning to be read and commented on. One thing leads to another... Alas, I think I will have to discipline myself and take all (7 comments)
active rain: Congratulations to Another Active Rain Blogger for Making the COVER - 07/15/07 03:34 AM
This is not Copy/Paste, it is scan/upload :-) Seriously everyone, I thought our Active Rain Community should know about Jeff Fulgram and Damion Flynn being honored in the quarterly issue of our Mississipi Association of REALTORS magazine. Click here to see Damion's Mag. Photo Its no wonder these two REAL Entrepreneurs were chosen to spotlight. The focus was on Technology. Enough said. One more thing: Blog ON! If you ever wonder if you're doing the right thing by spending so much time blogging, talk to these guys. active rain: What "Duties" Do You Owe Your Agent? - 07/13/07 09:48 PM
History: All posts by me, Suzi Gravenstuk, are 100% original. I am influenced by years of study, reading, and research of other people's work. This particular piece was constructed in Microsoft Publisher 2007, today, Friday, July 13th, 2007. The work is saved as PNG, uploaded by 9:30PM and released at 9:47PM. In Real Estate it is important to understand the fiduciary duties owed by the Agent to the Client, and to the Customer. To set yourself up as optimally as possible for a successful transaction in trying times I visit the idea that the Client should consider that he/she also owes the (11 comments)
active rain: Active Rain Improvement - 05/25/07 09:37 AM
Hey everyone. Sometimes I get a little distracted. There may already be a blog about this, I don't have time to research. If I could give ACTIVE RAIN as an entity a big hug I would. The most irritating feature to me in blogging and commenting was typing in the fruits and vegetables to confirm our honor. It isn't the kind of irritant that would drive me out of the rain, just an overall irritant. Well, I'm hooping and hollaring in Long Beach, Mississippi, Harrison County, otherwise known as the Magic Gulf Coast. -- oops, I meant Mississippi Gulf Coast. There's a drop (2 comments)
active rain: This is HOT! Gateway Listens...Gateway Responds to US - 05/25/07 12:03 AM
The other day I fried my keyboard on my aging refurbished Toshiba M-200. Raindrops--oops! I can still use my Toshiba, but it doesn't have quite the functionality it had with the keyboard working. Off and on I have been reading every thing I can find on new tablets. I have checked NAR's affinity partners and ran quotes. They all start out at an affordable price. After I add features I want--I have put myself out of the ball park. After pricing Lenovo, Toshiba M400, HP I decided to go back and revise my quote with Gateway. I accessed online chat. It had (4 comments)
active rain: Blogging Purpose and Rewards - 04/15/07 10:13 AM
Anyone with me? Sometimes, I don't care whether I receive points for a blog. Sometimes I just want to propose a question and hope to get real time feedback from a variety of folks, such as when I posted: Financial Advisement, ASAP please . I posted at 12:10. By 12:45 I was off and running with some resources I had not had before. I love getting balanced feedback and brainstorming ideas. Purpose. If I have time, and I am researching an issue I use our Search function and may contact certain bloggers directly for clarification or specific communication. If I am on a (6 comments)
active rain: If you bump into a stray blog... - 02/19/07 11:17 PM
There must be a cyber heaven for my blog wanta-bees that self destruct because I'M a KLUTZ. Anyone else share this with me? I may spend an hour off (Okay, maybe 2hours off and on)and on aiming for a blog with cross references, researching via the Search bar adorning the top bar of Active Rain. I sandwich the blog between other Real Estate adventures, and, work--such as striving to improve my website. I think the problem is that I open too many windows at once. Then I start thinking...I have too much going on, I start x ing out, then accidentally X the (2 comments)
Are you excited? If you found me, you are most likely thinking of moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and/or starting a business. I remember the excitement, anticipation and concerns about relocating. Therefore, I try to convey "slice of life" moments with photo-blogs and single photo uploads to assist you in getting a "real feel".
