real estate: Newark Residents! Sewer rate hike could come in February - 11/12/09 07:12 PM
Attention Newark residents, be prepared for a sewer rate increase. Newark is struggling to meet it's budget and is finding ways to come closer to meeting the demands. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Buying a home is about to get cheaper for a whole new crop of homebuyers - $6,500 cheaper. First-time homebuyers have been getting tax credits of up to $8,000 since January as part of the economic stimulus package enacted earlier this year. But with the program scheduled to expire at the end of November, the Senate voted Wednesday to extend and expand the tax credit to include many buyers who already own homes. The House is scheduled to vote (1 comments)

real estate: Old School Open House - Beating the Odds? - 10/25/09 05:18 PM
So in an effort to build my client base, I contacted all the Realtors in my office with a listing. I suggested that I do an open house. Of the 20ish Realtors who had listings, I got responses from two. One wanted me to pay for all advertising, give a 25% referral fee for any buyer that walked in the door, and give 25% referral fee if that buyer ever bought a home. I thought it was all stacked against me. The second Realtor who contacted me about my offer, said she would pay for the advertising and any buyers would (6 comments)

real estate: Loosing Big Bucks with Heat Gain? Find Answers - 04/28/09 06:43 AM

Heat energy transfers from hot to cold trying to create an equilibrium, this process is called heat gain. Too science-nerdy for you? To break it down for you... heat gain could be costing you mega bucks! During the warm and hot months of the year: Your attic is a major source of heat gain for your home. All the black tar or dark shingles absorb the heat from the sun and that transfers into your attic. In some homes (0 comments)

Stopping junk mail catalogs is a huge way to help! Over 19 billion catalogues are mailed in the United States alone. That means every man, woman, and child is slated to receive 63 of their very own glossy cataloges this year. They are all filled with clothes, furniture, and things they never knew they needed until it showed up at the door printed (6 comments)
