Billings Township Lawsuit - 02/24/10 11:47 AM
Results of Billings Township Lawsuit
Judge Joyce A. Draganchuk of Ingham County Circuit Court ordered a Billings Township property owner to pay a civil fine of more than $157,000.
At the Department of Natural Resources and Environment's (DNRE) request The Department of Attorney General filed the lawsuit.  The property owner was advised by local authorities to seek DNRE review of the property for the presence of wetlands.
The judge's ruling requires the property owner must apply for an after-the-fact permit in accordance with DNRE permitting requirements for portions of the roadway. It must be reconstructed according to Billings Township road standards. There are groomed ski trails ready for cross country skiing. The Gladwin Trail Association has been working to get the trails ready for year round use. The Gladwin County Recreation Area features the only groomed ski trails in Michigan.
They also allow hikers, although they must walk on the opposite side of thegroomed trail because once they have made an indentation in the snow, it is hard to groom it out which creates a safety hazard for the skiers. The grooming accommodates both hikers and skiers safely due to its width.

Whether you love the summer or the winter, Beaverton MI is where you'll want to be. We are located in Southern Gladwin County, with Wixom Lake and many other lakes, rivers and streams and thousands of acres of state land near by. If you can't live here, you will at least want to plan a vacation. Some are inclined to leave the keys in the car and the doors unlocked, however, I cannot recommend that you do that here or any where!
