I had the most delightful visit this week with long-time Opelika residents, Jack and Betty Walton. After seventy years together, the Opelika Observer deemed it newsworthy, and asked me to do the story. Throughout our conversation, I couldn't help but reflect on the most evident and enduring qualities that create a strong relationship and prosperous community legacy. It all begins with caring about each other. I am grateful for amazing folks that are the neighbors in Opelika... Pending Home Sales Rise Again March saw another increase in pending home sales, with contract activity rising unevenly in six of the past nine months, according to NAR. The Pending Home Sales Index rose 5.1 percent to 94.1 in March from a downwardly revised 89.5 in February. The index is 11.4 percent below 106.2 in March 2010, but activity was at elevated levels in March and April of 2010 to meet the contract deadline for the home buyer tax credit.

In response to our neighbors, following the disastrous tornadoes, a few Jeter School second graders teamed up to work a lemonade stand last Saturday on 4th Avenue in Opelika, donating every penny of the proceeds to relief funds. Passersby appeared to be donating generously for a cup of cool refreshment in the 90-degree heat, all too aware of the devastation that our Alabama neighbors are facing.

got entirely sidetracked this evening, playing with Google Calendar, and creating a music & theatre Events Calendar for my local town of Auburn Alabama.
Now I need to re-trace my steps to figure out what I did exactly, but it was surprisingly fun! Google spells out all of the steps. I always struggle with these things, so I can assure you that, even if you feel like you're all un-teched thumbs, you will smile at what you can do with this calendar :-)

Since the decline of the housing market and the rise of short sales, the greatest irony of short sale transactions has been that they have typically been very delayed and drawn out--- making them anything but “short.” An improved business model, implemented last month, is showing good signs of decreased timelines. With the average time for a short sale, constrained at 5 months, ServiceLink (a national lender platform) is now documenting approval to closing time of these sales as less than 45 days.

PAWS on SATURDAY, MAY 16th, from 9:00 - noon, and visit the Lee County Humane Society's PUPPY ADOPTION EXTRAVAGANZA. This fun-filled event is a wonderful opportunity for puppies looking for people with a home to share. Many litters of puppies that are otherwise going to spend the summer months at the shelter, get to receive special attention on this day...and some lucky dog just might notice you and you will get that feeling of PUPPY LOVE.
