LOGAN SQUARE

What can I say about Logan Square; It's where it's at!  Right now it is one of the hottest locations to move to.  It's tree lined boulevards have wonderful mansions and still easy parking.  Restaurants are opening up every week and the L has 3 stops through this west side neighborhood. Never drive to the airport again the Blue line goes straight into O'hare. You can walk to Wicker Park and Bucktown within minutes.  The buildings have unique floor plans and a cozy warm appeal to families as well as the city's trendy.  An artistic environment and welcoming neighbors; you will be amazed at the quaint and authetic shops.  It's prime location also is perfect for hoping on the expressway. Logan Square also has a many bus lines running through to get you to the beach in no time at all.  The growing Farmers Market every Sunday in the summer attracts people from all over the city. The perfect outdoor space can be your competitive edge to a high resale price- even in a down market. Living in the city where one person’s floor is another person’s ceiling is sometimes a confining situation, especially in Chicago where the weather takes longer to change. The perfect outdoor space makes all the difference for the joyous months of May through early October. Who doesn’t like to BBQ, sit outside in a favorite chair on a warm summer night reading a book, magazine or chatting on the phone…and gatherings with friends and family, wouldn’t you love to have a memorable summer party? Ah, the perfect touch- your private garden, terrace style- a serene, peaceful, Zen inspired heaven. Here are a few great companies that can assist and or build your sanctuary: www.jamesalexandergardens.comwww.jwlandscapes.com,  http://www.homedepot.comwww.jaysonhomeandgarden.comwww.cityescape.biz,  www.gethsemanegardens.com

Best of all, at the end of the season, when the weather changes, your garden is still the perfect painting to enjoy. Pines and many other species can live nicely through the chilled months in a perfect pot adding beauty to your days and nights at every budget. By the way, if you’re looking for the perfect outdoor space, check out our listing at 39 Schiller, www.39eSchiller4w.com It’s a duplex penthouse in an intimate eight unit elevator building located in the heart of the Gold Coast, steps to the lake and park and blocks off Michigan Avenue- It’s off the pages of Architectural Digest magazine and provide THREE enormous outdoor spaces, I mean big enough to have plants, furniture and lots of friends and family. What can I say about the South Loop? If you haven't been down here recently, I mean within the last month or two,  jump in your car, ride your bike or hop on the CTA- you'll be amazed! Easy public transportation (red, green, orange L lines, state, Wabash, Michigan buses), "hot" restaurants (Wabash is like Randolph now), shopping (Home Depot, Whole foods, Dominick's, Jewel, Target to name a few), the ability to be in the thick of all the summer fun. Then from Roosevelt to Cermak the area is transformed with a fresh new mix of architectural delights: brick/timber or concrete lofts, modern high rises, single family homes, townhouses, row houses. On top of all this you are steps away from the beach, boats and the Bears; one of the best parts of the city; perhaps you should consider making the South Loop your new home.  Check out www.1918smichigan202.com

It's a great time to be buying a 3000+ square foot loft in the West Loop.  Prices have reduced dramatically and most have fallen under the million dollar mark.  At the time of posting this message, there were only four brick and timber lofts on the market that featured 3000+ square feet, 2+ bedrooms, 2+ baths and offering lots of quality finishes that we all have come to expect today.  The location of these gems is prime-right in the heart of the west loop, within walking distant to all the hot Randolph Street and Greek town restaurants.  This area is still very hot, evidenced by all the boutiques, hair salons and restaurants now expanding to the meat packing warehouses of Fulton and Lake Streets.  Have you tried "newly opened" Macello at 1235 Lake Street?  The pizza is awesome. Old favorites of mine are Folia on Fulton for everything, Sushi Wabi on Randolph for the Godzilla Roll, Santorini on Halsted for the Santorini Chicken, Wishbone on Washington for Salmon Cakes and of course, Ina's on Randolph for that awesome Sunday brunch bread basket.  So even if these West Loop "loft mansions" have stunning kitchens- who needs to cook!

People are always asking me to explain why my neighborhood is consistently touted as one of the hottest areas. As both a 6 year resident and top-selling real estate broker in River North here's my answer:

  • Situated next to the Ohio feeder ramp gives entry point to access all expressways in Chicago
  • Walking distant to the L; brown (Chicago & Franklin), red (State & Chicago), and blue (Chicago & Milwaukee)
  • Bordered by two major bus routes- Chicago Avenue and Grand Avenue

2. Downtown

  • Within 12 blocks of Michigan Avenue; the heart of the shopping or of financial district -The Loop.

3. Green Space and Dog Friendly

  • A four acre park, with endless activities, and river walk promenade located at the corner of Erie and Kingsbury.
  • Two neighborhood dog parks, one off Kingsbury, second to open on Larrabee.

4. Action  -My Favorite places

  • Restaurants -Japonais & Bar Louie
  • Shops -Elements, Golden Traingle, Mecox Gardens
  • Fitness -Love to walk to the infamous East Bank Club and popular David Barton Gym
