90808: Just 10% down and Still Avoid a Mortgage Insurance Payment? - 12/06/10 06:20 PM
I am a lover of the win-win situation and here is one for the record books. If you feel the seller is in a situation where they can offer a 2nd loan to the buyer don't be afraid to broach the subject. The seller can take advantage of a high interest rate yield on his money and the buyer saves tons of money by removing the mortgage insurance premium and payment. This information was provided to my by Doug Van Duser from Western Mutual Homes Loans in Long Beach, CA. Thanks for thinking outside the box Doug!

90808: Sergeant Shredder Really is Our Los Altos Community Hero! - 11/07/10 12:20 PM
Our first free shredding events was hugely successful and went off without a hitch this Saturday at Stanford Middle School in the Los Altos area due the contribution of many. We started early at 9:45, and it was a good thing we did, because Dan Hartnett the owner/operator of Sergeant Shredder and his assistant, the very entertaining Dan, worked steady until we closed shop at 3:00. By the end of day we had collected over 8,000 lbs of paper which is nearly 4 tons!

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive because of the convenient location, good organization and quick shredding process. … (0 comments)

90808: Traffic Madness Coming Soon to Long Beach on the 405 and 605! - 10/20/10 06:27 PM
<> Look for Construction to Begin a Month after the Passing of State Budget. My previous blog on the upcoming connector closures was information obtained from the following OCTA website. http://www.octa.net/wc_closures.aspx
I thought perhaps a quick verbal and visual explanation would help everyone more easily understand what to expect.
And remember, patience is a virtue! (Correction - I meant to say you would exit onto the 22 West off the 605 South, do a U-turn at Studebaker, and continue back on the 22 East. Growing up in New Jersey wrecks havoc on my east-west indicators!)

90808: A 60 Year Tradition of Educating the Kids of the Los Altos Community Live on in O.L.R. - 10/20/10 06:24 PM

Our Lady of Refuge School, fondly known as OLR among the students, has been an important part of the Los Altos community for over 60 years. I was lucky enough to attend the school's weekly Peace Builders Assembly, which started off with everyone singing loudly and clearly our Star Spangled Banner. It was odd not to have the clapping for a sports team at the conclusion, but that made it even more special! The school has a fully equiped media center run by Toni Napier who explained her theory of tying standard classroom work into the use of the computer. … (0 comments)
