houselocator: History of Strathcona Edmonton - 04/19/11 10:45 PM
The First Steps of Strathcona Strathcona took its first steps over 117 years ago when the Calgary and Edmonton Railway Company completed its line from the Canadian Pacific Railway line in Calgary to a terminus south of the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. Despite pressure to cross the river and end the line at Edmonton, the company wanted to monopolize the benefits of future land sales and so created a new settlement they called South Edmonton. With it they developed a new commercial centre - one that would soon overtake Edmonton.
Property was purchased from landowners, rails were laid and the … (2 comments)

Edmonton Downtown Revitalization Katz's plan done properly will electrify downtown!!!!By Scott McKeen, Edmonton JournalMarch 26, 2010There are a few glimmers of true urban experience in our downtown.Hunt through the ruins of the once-proud strolling and shopping district and you'll find them.Yes, you'll pass parking lots and vacant lots, bunkers and faceless institutions. But suddenly, out of the bland, you'll come across a diner, fashion boutique, gallery or cafe.Downtown is a work in progress. Glacial progress. But progress nonetheless. The good news is of two bold plans emerging to reshape the core into a vibrant place of culture, community and commerce. One plan, city … (0 comments)

houselocator: Sad to see yearly July 4 Waterfall Not be part of annual fireworks history - 04/19/11 10:23 PM

Waterfall Update The City of Edmonton will not run the Great Divide Waterfall pending a review of options for using dechlorinated water. The City suspended operation of the waterfall in 2009 to explore ways to ensure alignment with the City’s commitment to the environment. The waterfall releases Edmonton tap water into the North Saskatchewan River. While this has very low amounts of chlorine to make it safe to drink and bathe in, chlorine is not a natural part of the river.

This clearly indicates the Wild Rose province is starting to bloom once more following an extended economic winter. Across major industries, manufacturing has, by far accounted for most (+41.7%) of the new jobs added followed by health services (+25.5%), professional and business services (+18%), natural resources (+10.9%) and agriculture (+8.2%). Reflecting this strong pattern of employment growth, … (0 comments)

2. Did you know prequalified is not just the bank said I should be good to go for such and such an amount?
3. Did you know a true prequalification is where they have all your paperwork, your credit score and  a locked in bank rate for you?
