Foreclosure Alternative: The Short Sale By: Gwen Moran
Published: July 8, 2010
A short sale is far from hassle-free, but it's a better alternative than foreclosure. And now you've got a little help from your friends in D.C. Here are the facts about short sales and how to get started.

foreclosure: Houses for sale in Watermill...Jacksonville, Florida - 01/04/11 10:21 AM

Houses for sale in Watermill

The Watermill subdivision on Jacksonville's westside is offering up some of the most under rated bargains around when it comes to real estate. Homes in this area were built from 2000 until about 2007.
This neighborhood borders the north end of Oakleaf Plantation and while it doesn't offer the same amenities, it also doesn't include the high fees. Still though, a great community center and water park is a great place to spend weekends when you aren't out shopping in the nearby Oakleaf Town Center.
It's close proximity to Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS) … (0 comments)

foreclosure: Strategic Default - 10/28/10 03:12 AM
I came across an interesting article so I thought I would share. These days it seems more and more people are considering just walking away from their mortgages. While in most cases this option might make good sense from a business perspective, there are arguments on both sides. Besides the fact that it might be immoral, there could be many other future consequences to consider.

Temporary Bankruptcy Instead of Loan Mods?
The federal government's program for helping hard-hit home owners avoid foreclosure could be having the unintended effect of encouraging people to make strategic defaults. The program needs to be replaced with a new way for judges to modify mortgages in bankruptcy court, one of the country’s largest financial asset management companies suggested to REALTORS® this week. Barbara Novick, vice chair of New York-based BlackRock, an investment risk management firm, on Wednesday … (0 comments)

Fannie Adds Incentive to Avoid Foreclosure
Beginning in July, Fannie Mae will allow financially troubled home owners to complete a “deed in lieu of foreclosure” or a short sale and be eligible to apply for a new Fannie-backed mortgage in two years.
Currently, borrowers who have completed a deed-in-lieu must wait four years to apply for a loan that Fannie will purchase. Home buyers who go through foreclosure must wait five years. All these waiting periods can be reduced further, if the potential buyer can show extenuating circumstances. "We are beginning to think … (0 comments)
