How to handle a Thanksgiving Real Estate Market! - 11/25/08 12:27 PM
Sometimes it pays... To consult with the highest available authorities. To get the most qualified counsel from learned advisors who have in-depth market knowledge. To maintain an even strain while others are struggling to do so in a difficult shifting market. To take the high road and be a leader for your clients. To stay calm and avoid the panic button... Happy Thanksgiving!
Are you using YouTube? You just went 16:9! - 11/25/08 07:25 AM
I just popped into Mashable and saw the news that YouTube last night went to a 16:9 video player. YouTube says that 960 pixels wide will "...better reflect the quality of video..." that we are uploading. I figure it is a stepping stone to full HD, and I'm looking forward to that. With $500 camcorders offering excellent HD video, YouTube will have to play along. Wondering if a commercial-use option will be offered anytime in the near future, since Google is struggling to justify their investment in YouTube?? Easy HD video will be the real estate listing agent's friend, if someone will offer a (0 comments)
Leapfish: Jumping the Shark in Telemarketing! - 11/20/08 04:36 PM
I replied to Beau Ferguson's blog on Leapfish last week, saying I may check them out. That was then. This is now. I am no longer curious. Before I had a chance to check Leapfish out, I got another call. "No Thanks." And another call, "No Thanks, and please take me off your list." Leapfish, "Sure, no problem." And an email. And another call, with another promise to take me off the list... And another call, where I had to hang up on the kid, who tried to tell me that I need to respect the Leapfish business model which is (27 comments)
Good news! LADOM and CDOM come to the Triangle MLS today! - 11/11/08 03:56 PM
What a welcome addition in Raleigh-Cary, NC, area Real Estate! As of today, we have two Days On Market details in the TMLS: "LADOM" and "CDOM." LADOM is for "Listing-Days-On-Market" and will tell us how many days that specific MLS number has been Active. CDOM is for "Cumulative-Days-On-Market" and will tell us how many days that specific property has been Active, across all the MLS numbers. Buyers routinely ask for DOM when considering the Sellers' level of motivation. So, if relisting is done with a new agent, CDOM reflect the entire time that it has been on the market. And if pulled and relisted by the (11 comments)
We were down at the Hatteras Island, North Carolina, the finest of the NC Outer Banks Beaches, a couple of years ago, and between demanding duties of repetitive naps and fruitless surf fishing we were sampling the offerings at a few eateries. They seemed to uniformly sport "B" Health Inspection Ratings. Scores like 85% and 88%. "That's OK. We're bulletproof!" My brother-in-law, Stan Porter, he of the Columbus, GA, Porters (by way of Asheville, NC) and possessor of inestimable savoir faire, was along, as well as his strapping and handsome son, the Young Lad. (We were not alone. We are not allowed to cite the existence of the ladies of the (6 comments)
Attention Buyers: Staged homes sell for top dollar! How much are you willing to pay for staging? - 11/02/08 09:05 PM
No one advertises home staging services to Buyers as a way for them to save money or build value; at least not in the Cary, NC, real estate market. Staging services are marketed to SELLERS as a way to get increased prices! "Top Dollar!" That can be a good thing, depending on which side of the transaction you inhabit. But Buyers have fallen into requiring staging in homes for some reason. Maybe to feel like they have had the full buying experience? At what cost? So, my question to Buyers is: How much extra are you willing to pay for transitory decoration and (17 comments)
