Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for our Troops? Sure! Why not? - 05/26/10 04:38 PM
Five bucks for five 4 packs!  What a Steal!  And the local Food Lion folks have a deal with the Marines to have bulk delivery of donated Reese's Peanut Butter Cups to our troops in the Mid East.
I stood in line for bananas, and the enthusiasm of the check out lady won me over.
Five Bucks later, and I have visions of young folks on a break having a hard-earned sweet and salty peanut butter cup.
Made my mouth water...
Before we moved to Cary, we used to live in PA, about 12 miles from Hershey.   For a time, I drove past the Reese's plant … (4 comments)

Sprint Jumps the Marketing and Sales Shark, and I'm getting an Evo® anyway! - 05/25/10 10:21 PM
I got this hankering for an HTC Evo.  4G and all, you know?  So, I went to Best Buy last night, and they were too busy to talk to me.
And I went across the street to my local Sprint Company Store, the nice folks who have accepted about $2000 from me in the last 16 months.
"The Closer" loitering up front had to put out his cigarette and slouch into the store to speak with me, so I guess that aggravated him.
I said, "I'm here for two HTC Evo's."
The (C)loser: "Nope. Not until June 4th."
Me: "I guess … (20 comments)

"Can I copy your photos and distribute them? I'm just trying to make a buck..." - 05/22/10 10:05 PM
Well, Geee.
We haven't had a good copyright go round lately, and this little nugget just hit my radar screen.  It's a couple of years late, but it's still a fun read.
"Photographer gets $12 Million verdict"
"(...you don't have to had register your photos with the US Copyright Office before the infringement to be eligible for actual damages.)"
I found a foolproof website that will help ANYONE avoid the grief of persecution for swiping someone else's creation:
"Avoid copyright violation hassles!"   Everything you need is right there for you!

Stepping out in Boston, MA - 05/19/10 10:03 PM
My Sweetie mentioned that she ought to take me somewhere to celebrate her wedding anniversary.
Well, that made sense to me. See, I have a significant survival instinct.
She mentioned Charleston, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Savannah, GA.
I came back with Wilmington, NC and went down in flames instantly.
So, I "thought about it." Which usually means "I forgot about it."
Not this time. See, a couple of years ago, Sweetie had mentioned we should go to Boston one day. And somewhere in the dusty recesses of my mind, one romantic little gray matter cell sparked to life, and I … (14 comments)

REBLOG BART WILSON: Senators Give Facebook the "Middle Finger..." - 05/04/10 08:00 AM
To Facebook, or not to Facebook?
Agree or disagree, in or out, Bart is always entertaining reading.  He brings it straight from the shoulder.

Via Bart Wilson (Voyager International):
Facebook has 400 million users. This is more people than every man, woman and child (including illegal aliens from Mexico) living in the United States right now.
I've chronicled a few of the problems facing Facebook and now it's getting a lot worse. This last week, New York Senator Charles Schumer wrote a letter to the FTC demanding they develop guidelines for how Facebook information can be used.

REBLOG of SarahGray Lamm: Don't Even THINK About Asking Me To Participate In Your Fraud - 05/03/10 10:43 PM
Thanks to SarahGray Lamm for bringing up the issue of slimy operators backdating contracts.

Via SarahGray Lamm~REALTOR~ 60K Hours of NC Real Estate Experience~ (Allen Tate Realtors Chapel Hill, NC):
My email this morning contained a truly disheartening message...the Executive Director of my local Board of Realtors has found it necessary to convey the following:
It has come to the Association's attention that sellers are being asked to sign post-dated contracts to April 30 so buyers can take advantage of the Homebuyer Tax Credit.
This is an illegal practice and constitutes … (0 comments)
