town of cary: Cary, NC: Harold D Ritter Park - 05/05/11 01:21 AM
.
Cary's Harold D. Ritter Park is located at 301 Lochmere Drive West, which is off Kildaire Farm Road.

The 20 acre park offers Town of Cary residents, particularly residents of nearby Lochmere, Williamsburg Commons, and Crescent Arbors apartments, room to roam.  Among the park amenities are two ball fields, a basketball court, a comfort station, access to Swift Creek Greenway, a large playground area, a huge picnic shelter, and open play fields. Lovely landscaping adds to the appeal, as many stately crape myrtles decorate the park.
Ritter Park is tucked away, but easily accessed and the recreational opportunities and beauty of the … (5 comments)

town of cary: Samsung Reminds Me What a Smart Woman I Married.... - 10/23/10 01:14 PM
It was time to replace the water filter in our 1 year old refrigerator.
I was a little skeptical about the need.   And I got a little more skeptical when I saw that the replacement filter was $40.  Forty Bucks!
But, I have enough gray matter to know that it was all but a done deal.  So we bought it and hustled back to the house this afternoon.  The old one came out easily enough.  And the new one went in just as easily.
And I couldn't take it.  I had to cut the old one open to see what evil … (20 comments)

town of cary: Cary Unveils our new Town of Cary Website! - 10/01/09 06:18 AM
Just today, the Town of Cary, NC, announced that they have gone "live" with the new town Website.
Well, sort of "live."
A few pages wouldn't load for me, but I assume that is because the announcement and email blast spurred a lot of residents to try to take it for a test drive.  What an endeavor, to link up to 55,000 files!
First look tells me that it is a more contemporary interface on the home page.
And it appears that access to information like Council Meeting minutes, Projects and Initiatives will be more direct.  The old site, which won awrds when … (0 comments)

town of cary: Town of Cary plans website upgrade - 09/25/09 12:18 AM
"The Town of Cary has scheduled an upgrade for its Web site, www.townofcary.org, from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27. The Web site may be unavailable for all or part of this period as we prepare to launch a redesign of the site."
The Town of Cary offers a wealth of information on the Town website.  It is currently a little challenged in navigational efficiency, but still works well, albeit with a dated feel.
I'm looking forward to "New and Improved."  Optimistically, at that. I think the Town has the ability to make access to information easier, and do it with … (4 comments)

Cary, NC, offers access to more information than many residents realize is available.

You can get updates emailed regularly from the Town of Cary.
Curious about the town's Sanitary Sewer System status?  How about an email with the Annual Wastewater Report.

The convenience of autoemail news from … (5 comments)

town of cary: Cary, NC Real Estate Adventures: My Buyers can't afford your "Free Bonus!" - 06/14/08 09:41 PM
Can something be "free," and not be "affordable?"  Sure. But, I guess in real estate some folks feel they have to "sell what they have."  Lately I have bumped into a couple of Cary homes with unpermitted, sub-code finished living areas.  When it is mentioned, the Listing Agents' responses have been, "Since it isn't counted in the square footage, the Sellers consider it 'free bonus space.'"
It is NOT "free..."  More often it is "unaffordable."
Does that "free bonus space" carry any guarantees on the homeowners' electrical work, uninspected and possibly performed with a buddy and a beer or two on some forgotten weekend? Is there a guarantee … (4 comments)
