Looking for ways to entertain the kids and family during the winter break? Catawba Science Center (CSC) in Hickory will expand its educational and planetarium show offerings during the weeks of December 21 - 31.
Children in grades pre-K to sixth can spend the day at CSC during Winter Fun Science Day Camps on December 21 and 28, learning about the winter solstice and crime scene investigation. A Downtown Hickory Holiday ~ Thursday, December 10, 2009 Downtown Hickory will be glowing with holiday lights and alive with the sounds of Holiday music. The festivities will take place throughout downtown Hickory from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Activities include: tractor pulled wagon rides through downtown holiday tunes from The Original King Street Jazz Band classic carols from the Suzuki School of the Arts, as well as other performers Santa will be here to listen to the Christmas wish lists of girls and boys of all ages

December 10th 2009 is the Last Day for the Catawba County Bikes for Tykes Program The Hickory Fire Department, in conjunction with the Christmas Bureau, is asking for new and like new bikes and tricycles for needy children to be given out at Christmas time. Last year 615 brand new bikes and 500 helmets were donated.
