Hickory Motor Speedway supports a great cause, Autism Speaks, this Saturday August 28, 2010 as they host Autism Speaks Night presented by Pepsi Max and S&S Exteriors.  
 
The night will feature racing action from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with appearances by the Bojangles Late Models, the Advance Auto Parts Limiteds, the Red Baron Race Parts Hobby Stocks, the Ford Focus Midgets and Twin 20-Lap features for the Hickory Street Stocks.

Catawba Valley Community College Offers Dog Obedience Class - 08/26/10 06:41 PM
 

 
Catawba Valley Community College's Continuing Education Division will offer basic dog obedience training on Thursdays, September 16 through October 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  
 
 
This class is an effective way to socialize dogs, learn park etiquette, meet new dog owners and get some little exercise, too.
Dogs must be at least five months old.  Dogs with aggression problems are not accepted.  An up-to-date vaccination record, including distemper, rabies and bordetella, is required.

                      The City of Hickory's Community Appearance Commission is once again seeking nominations for the Hickory Beautification Awards Program
 
 
 
Nominations are sought for:
 
* residential and non-residential landscapes,
* renovations and/or restorations to homes and non-residential buildings,
* special projects and Adopt-A-Spots.
