On July 13-15, 2011 the Western Piedmont Council of Governments is offering free Certified Green Professional classes for anyone who works in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, or Catawba counties. The class will be held at the Hickory & Catawba Valley Home Builders Association.
The class is limited to the first 30 who register.  If you can’t make it to this class, another one will be offered in the fall.

RugBug Theatre at the Hickory Community Theatre is an opportunity for young people to perform for our youngest audiences.
RugBug actors’ ages range from 6-15 years old.
Actors rehearse, learn lines and blocking, wear costumes and perform on our RugBug stage. There is no cost to the actor. All actors must be at all performances.

The Newton Parks and Recreation Department will offer “Water Aerobics” on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning July 11 through August 3, 2011 for those ages 16 and older.
The class will be held at the Newton Recreation Swimming Pool from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The class will offer non-weight-bearing exercises to improve muscular endurance, core strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular conditioning.

Humane Society of Catawba County is holding a special fundraising photo contest, “Furry Faces 2011”, which will launch on June 1st and continue through until July 31st, 2011.
