When the Hickory Community Theatre holds its annual benefit, the Vacation Extravaganza, on June 10, 2013 the entertainment for the evening’s party will be the musical ensemble Hartman, featuring Jeff and Carol Anne Hartman.
The group plays a fusion of classic rock, folk and pop music. Their touring credits include Walt Disney World, Charlotte Bobcats Arena, and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. They have been billed with Arrested Development, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Natalie, Georgia Satellites, and Allman Bros. Band.

Filling the need for fun once again will be Hickory Alive. The annual free concert series will kick off on May 31, 2013 and run every Friday night through July 5, 2013.
The event will be held in the City Hall Parking Lot in Downtown Hickory. Featuring local bands and rising talent, Hickory Alive is a great way to start the weekend.

Moms and preschoolers ages 3 to 5 can explore the beauty of butterflies together during a special visit in CSC’s Flutter-By Butterfly Butterfly Habitat, featuring hundreds of live butterflies and moths in an outdoor flower garden.
Feed butterflies and learn about metamorphosis. Activities include a colorful butterfly craft to make and take home.

This weekend Saturday, April 17th the 8th annual Hickory Hops Festival will be on Union Square in downtown Hickory North Carolina.
The outdoor beer festival is organized by Hickory Downtown Development Association and hosted by Olde Hickory Brewery.
The beer festival will offer plenty for everyone from inexperienced beer novices to hardened beer fest veterans anxious for something unusual. Pouring for six hours, beginning at 1:00, live music will be presented, rain or shine. Food is available from downtown restaurants during the festival.
