The Hickory Fire Department, in conjunction with the Christmas Bureau, is asking for new and like-new bicycles and tricycles for needy children to be given out at Christmas time. Hickory Senior Firefighter Marty Kanupp spearheads the Bikes for Tykes program. Last year, 500 bicycles were given away, doubling the previous year’s total. Program organizers would like to double the total again this year.
