:: Toronto Mayor should hire David Blaine for his revenue task force :: - 10/25/07 05:15 PM
Why when the need to find new revenue arises does Toronto City hall feel it necessary to soften or alter the perception of the blow and save some face with its taxpayers through the art of illusion? Finding a fresh pocket to take the money from does not mask or distract from the reality. If the citizens of Toronto are required to fork over more money to cover its needs then all of the city should pay for those needs, don't put it onto the backs of new home buyers, don't penalize the guy picking up his weekend case of beer … (0 comments)

:: Video for cat owners (cat servants) :: - 10/23/07 04:55 PM
My day begins with a cat scratching at the bedroom door screaming feed me in cat language. This begins about a half hour before the alarm each day. She then follows me to the bathroom does figure eights around my legs while I brush my teeth, then follows half a step ahead to the kitchen as I make coffee. First things first.  It is a test of wills she puts me through each and every day. My dog Moe on the other hand sits quietly in the background watching this routine, knowing that patience will pay and for that he always … (4 comments)

:: A thought for residents of southern California :: - 10/23/07 01:19 PM
As a past resident of Thousand Oaks California watching the news from thousands of miles away here in Canada as fire rips through various regions of southern California I wish I could say something more to those affected than hang in there and keep your spirits high.
Californians know as well as anyone how to rebuild and bounce back better than before.

:: Penalizing Toronto new home buyers with more new taxes is wrong :: - 10/22/07 10:01 AM

Before the end of today Toronto residents, specifically all future home buyers should learn if a new and controversial municipal land transfer tax is to be passed in a vote by Toronto City council.
The most recent poll of council members shows 19 of Toronto's 45 councilors in favor of implementing the tax, 21 against it and the balance undecided or at least unwilling to comment on how they will likely vote.
Toronto is looking to new home buyers to alleviate some of it's budget shortfall and the growing deficit plaguing  the city but one has to wonder if raising the … (4 comments)

I created the Million Link page back in May just to see if it would gain momentum and how far it might go. Then I forgot about it myself until looking back over past posts this morning.
Still a long way to go to get to a million. Click the logo above to go to the million link blog post and ad your Banners, logos and links or just your details.

:: Movies, Chicken wings and Real Estate :: - 10/16/07 09:46 AM

While dining on wings over a jug of draft beer last week in the company of a few local Realtors the conversation turned to movies and someone suggested that the film industry has always portrayed us in a somewhat negative light.
I think that image stems from the long gone days when real estate sales was pretty much an old boys club and most of the rules and regulations governing the business of real estate had yet to be written, or am I just stereotyping?
Anyhow we got onto naming movies that had Realtors as characters. My favorite has to be Carolyn … (1 comments)

:: Are Barrie Home Prices at their Ceiling? :: - 10/16/07 09:14 AM

There is no denying that Barrie has for some time been considered by many to be a bedroom community to the GTA.
The lure of a smaller, less densely populated community where drive by shootings are the stuff of Hollywood movies and kids can safely walk to school presents a welcome and affordable alternative to Big City living that has added momentum to Barrie's continuing population growth.Housing demands in the Barrie region have contributed to the increases in housing prices which in under 20 years have more than doubled in the Barrie area. Does the prediction that we may have hit … (0 comments)

:: Newer isn't always better :: - 10/01/07 09:49 AM

 The owners of a home I was showing to buyers this weekend were having a garage sale. I glanced over the tables of chotchsky and assorted household items as we left. They consisted of the usual garage sale fare; a well intended but never used butt master exerciser, a yogurt maker, books and out grown clothes and toys.
A slick looking G.E. coffee percolator at the end of a table caught my attention. Tall sleek and chromed. Looking like new, this was a sharp piece of kitchen appliance without question and stood up up against any modern day made in China … (3 comments)
