ontario: Couch Potato tour of Barrie Ontario - 05/29/10 08:17 AM
Various vantage points around Barrie and Kempenfelt Bay. Google maps took most of these images in the summer of 2008 in the midst of much Barrie roadwork building and parkland reconstruction. Hopefully they plan to keep these images updated every couple years. Use you mouse pointer to interact with the maps.

ontario: New Lakehead University campus in Orillia presents favorable investment opportunity in Central Ontario - 10/20/09 02:48 AM

Construction of the Lakehead University Orillia Ontario Campus is well underway and the first of three phases of this new education facility is expected to open in the fall of 2010. The creation of a new university presents a rare and significant real estate investment opportunity to those who will take advantage. Property values will be positively effected in Orillia in reflection of the demand for rental accommodations this facility is about to create.
Average home prices in Orillia are lower than Barrie to the south yet average rental rates for rooms, flats and apartments are on par with Barrie … (0 comments)

ontario: :: What will Harmonized Sales Taxes do for Ontario Home Buyers? :: - 06/09/09 06:23 AM
Our provincial government is making changes to the tax laws that will effectivly put home ownership completely out of reach for many Ontario residents and hardest hit will be young families.
Why is our government, especially in difficult economic times deliberatly sabotaging a vital and currently unstable area of our economy?
Send a letter or email to your local MPP if you are concerned about this proposed tax grab.

ontario: :: Barrie vs. Toronto :: - 03/21/07 05:09 AM
Barrie, a city of just over 125000 people situated around a clean swim-able bay just under 60 minutes north of Toronto and within 20 minutes of dozens of golf courses, ski hills and parks has long been a popular lifestyle alternative for Toronto residents who wish to escape the smog, crime and congestion that is part and parcel with a metropolis of over 3 million people. It comes at a price though, an affordable price.
Have a look at these pictures of listings in Barrie available for sale on this day and priced between $200k and $210k. When you're done, click … (3 comments)

ontario: :: Barrie News - Barrie one of two best investment regions in Canada :: - 03/17/07 09:25 AM
More and more experts point to the Barrie area as being a region of Canada most likely to see a prosperous future ahead of it. Here are some stories I read this week in the news that support this prediction.:: Ontario is best place to investRakshande Italia, National PostPublished: Wednesday, March 14, 2007Even as Alberta leads Canada's growth, analysts predict that Ontario is the place for long-term investment, with its up-and-coming cities predicted to break real estate records."If I were to invest in the country, I'd say Barrie and the Kitchener- Waterloo region would be my two top choices," said Don … (0 comments)

ontario: :: Barrie Ontario man's crusade to find fairness in the Oil Industry :: - 02/23/07 01:30 AM
The big oil companies once again have us by the, well they have us where they like to have us. Between a Rail Strike by CN and a refinery fire in Ontario, we in Ontario and parts elsewhere are finding pump prices precariously close to the buck a liter mark despite drops in international oil prices.
Imperial oil has closed its stations. Other stations dependent on Imperial for supply have closed up this week as well. The remaining companies have pushed up their prices at the pump as a result. One spokesperson for the major oil retailers in Ontario stated yesterday. "By … (0 comments)

ontario: Canadian blog potential - 02/16/07 02:02 AM
I have accepted the invitation by Larry Estabrooks to be part of the "Canada Eh" group. My early impressions of Active Rain and blogging in general are optimistic. This is an avenue of marketing (and venting) that I have only recently discovered.
I see great potential for those who partake. The abundance of knowledge shared is overwhelming and I might add refreshing given that up until now most of the inspiration available to me as a Realtor has come from Speakers who have convinced me mostly that cloning has been going on for many years and Tony Robbins must have made his … (0 comments)

ontario: :: Barrie Home owners say "Enough with the snow already" :: - 02/12/07 01:33 PM
About this time each year the winter weather has lost its novelty and I find myself looking out the window trying to mentally recall what the yard looked like before the snow started. In the last couple weeks we have gone from a nice thin powdery cover on the ground, which was enough for me, to head high snowbanks that make backing out of the driveway or turning some corners a game of blind mans bluff.

ontario: :: How are things shaping up in your area? :: - 02/08/07 07:56 AM
Amongst the personal postings I post industry related news stories on my blogs from time to time. Some died-in-the-wool bloggers discourage this as there is no real creative process involved. I like to look on it as being a news hound and sharing what I find.
What I would really like to see is some opinion generated from these posts. Lets start with my previous post. How does this story on the 2007 market forecast stand up in your area? If you are in Alberta no doubt even with a slight cooling of the market it will still be a good year. … (0 comments)
