San Gabriel Heights is one of Georgetown's best established neighborhoods.  In the late 1970's and early 1980's when San Gabriel Heights  was developed  Georgetown Texas was experiencing rapid growth mainly from Austin's high tech growth industries.  IBM was undergoing a major expansion in North Austin.   Round Rock and Georgetown were the beneficiaries.  Families desiring great schools, small town living and an easy commute to Austin were discovering that Georgetown neighborhoods such as San Gabriel Heights were offering larger lots with trees, well built spacious homes and much more value than they could find in Austin.

Across the stree from San Gabriel Heightsis Tippitt Middle School and residents can enjoy the jogging track, tennis courts, and open spaces.  The River Ridge city park pool is also within easy biking distance for kids to cool off in the summer.
