Don't you just LOVE ethical agents and brokers? - 11/29/07 05:35 PM
I posted a Blog several weeks ago when I discovered that another broker now has a former listing of mine as a short sale.  When he entered the listing he copied all of the photos from my old listing.  Needless to say, I was a bit miffed.  If he had asked permission to do so it would have been another story.  I have had that happen in the past.
Well, I called him and asked him to remove my pictures from his listing.  He apologized and told me that his assistant must have copied the photos without his knowledge!  You know all about those … (2 comments)

Can you get life insurance for Koi? - 11/28/07 08:02 PM
While sitting in my home office yesterday I happened to look out the window to see a large, white object land in my courtyard.  It walked around for a bit and then flew up and perched on the roof.
This dude was big.  I have little doubt that if he were to stand still he would be able to look my Great Dane in the eye, mano a mano.  Now, I asked myself, what does old Elmer the Egret find of interest in my courtyard?  Could it be the Koi pond?  Will the net on the Koi pond be substantial enough … (2 comments)

NOT THE BEST MLS LISTING PHOTOS, NOT THE WORST - 11/27/07 05:22 PM
It never ceases to amaze me the apparent disdain many agents have for the listing photos they put, or have put, into their MLS listings.  In the age of Internet marketing are not the photos one of the most important components of the listing?  Do these listing agents not agree that their responsibility it to present the most positive possible aspects of their listing to potential buyers?
Do some of these agents really think that their skills and abilities (and ego?) transcend the mundane marketing criteria mere mortal agents must follow?  Or, do they simply lack the skill set or ability to … (46 comments)

Is it Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures, or Common Sense is Not Common Enough? - 11/21/07 04:46 PM
In spite of the fact that this is the fourth best year in closed escrows since the statistics have been monitored, starting in the early 1950s, most people consider our real estate market very slow.  The fact of the matter is that the 2004 and 2005 numbers were so far off the charts that they have skewed the results.  However, that does not dull the pain most feel if they are in any real estate related business.
So some enterprising individuals (or marketing misfits--you decide) have decided that their prudent action is to advertise their listings EVERYWHERE.  I am sure that I am not … (1 comments)

DONALD TRUMP SAYS IT IS TIME TO BUY REAL ESTATE -- RIGHT NOW! - 11/16/07 10:42 AM
Although I don't particularly like Donald Trump, he is a savvy business man.
Earlier this week Donald Trump was on TV.  He said that today and for the next 6 months is probably the best time we will see for a long time to buy residential real estate! He said that if you can buy you should buy - if you are an investor you should buy fix up and rent it to build a real estate portfolio. If you are a seller he said don't sell unless you have to.  That is great news too - because that means that every seller today is … (5 comments)

SEO A true life Experience - 11/13/07 01:52 PM
I recently got a call from a company that committed to moving my web site form its present location, somewhere in the middle of the pack, to FRONT PAGE placement on Google, Yahoo and MSN.  The process, know as Search Engine Optmization, is a hot button for companies with a web presence and less than frond page placement.  Realtors and companies in related businesses are prime targets for these folks.
I think my first mistake was to listen for thirty seconds and ask a couple of questions.  They were VERY HIGH PRESSURE.  Their normal cost is $ 3999 for a six month period, … (2 comments)

Real Estate Myths: Bank Repos Provide The Best Deals! - 11/05/07 05:26 PM
As with any segment of the economy, there are a number of perceptions generally held about residential real estate that are not necessarily correct.  The purpose of this Blog is to expose these myths or present a contradictory opinion.  The goal is to provide a forum for discussion with those who have their own opinion on the subject.
Myth Number One is that Bank Repos (REO-Real Estate Owned by the bank) provide the prospective buyer with the excellent opportunity to get the best buy in the marketplace.  After all, the banks are foreclosing on a large number of homes, have a growing … (0 comments)
