It's A Texas Aggie Thing Wordless Wednesday - 09/29/10 11:57 PM
If you went to Texas A and M then you know the significance of the number 12. If you have no idea then you can ask any Aggie and they will most likely get the story right.  It is a great story and is part of the many great traditions at A and M.  The Twelfth Man Story is worth Goggling when have a moment!
Aggies Play The Hogs tomorrow! Whoop! ( another tradition)

My New Favorite Mexican Resaurant In Bryan Texas! - 09/29/10 10:40 PM
I know it is a little difficult to get to, as they are working on the streets in historic downtown Bryan....but we heard about this new "authentic" Mexican food place at 414 N. Main . It is rather discreet when you drive by...but once you are inside you will feel like you are in a quaint little cantina south of the border.   Don't let the temporary street conruction and boardwalk dissuade you. Just go .
Restaurant San Jose  has got to be the closest thing to true Mexican style home cooking I have had in a good whole ...actually in a very good while!  Every … (5 comments)

Best Real Estate Training In College Station - 09/29/10 01:29 AM
As my , BCR continues to Brand itself we are simultaneously building what several consider to be the best training program in town! Our trainers Cathy Patranella and Brent Reithmayer have done a great job of helping newer agents learn some extremely useful skills in prospecting, interviewing for listings, and communications with customers. If you are considering a career in real estate or if you are one of those agents that has been able to "wing it" but never really had any formal training then I would suggest to you there are some golden opportunities at BCR to advance your career … (3 comments)

Lots Of Oil and Gas Activity In College Station Area - 09/27/10 11:35 PM
If you take a ride our east of College Station and in other areas of Brazos County you'd be hard pressed not to notice there seems to be a pretty good amount of oil and gas well drilling going on. I have personally seen some production numbers on some of these wells and they would indicate some decent production is happening. This is good for College Station and Texas. Oil and gas exploration and production means more jobs. More jobs can mean more homes sold!

Come on bubbling goo...black gold...texas tea!

Is Now The Best Time To Sell A Home In College Station? - 09/27/10 12:29 AM
Is Now The Best Time To Sell A Home In College Station?
The short English version of my answer is ...Absolutely!  Some sellers are concerned that perhaps selling in the fall season in College Station and  Aggieland might result in a less than desirable sale. My reply to that is ...
ONLY if you allow it to happen.
Sometimes sellers influece their destiny in a negative way.
                                                                   HOW'S THAT ?
By not properly preparing their home to achieve maximum desirability and maximum price.   By failing to reduce their price soon enough when the economy and market dictates it. … (2 comments)

Speechless Sunday On The Porch In Blackjack - 09/26/10 11:39 PM
Every evening for years my wife Khris and I tune in to the nightly sunset from our back porch.  The horizon at our place is about 5 miles,  so the sunsets can be really a joy at times. This evening there was a touch of fall in the air,  and when I hit the zoom on the camera this cloud almost resembled Old Man Winter blowing up a cold front...could this be a sign of a cold winter to come.

Thank you For The 400K In Points Active Rain! - 09/25/10 10:06 PM
By the completion of this post I will hit the 400 Thousand point mark here on Active Rain. I have not achieved that by my individual actions  or any particularly exceptional writing skills,,,,,,,but rather by the grace of the AR members and the the web site itself. There are some really super folks here on Active Rain that have helped me tremendously.  AND I have made some good commission money as a result, but better yet I made some really nice friends!
Also I am truly humbled by the true professionalism and technical prowess exhibited by so many here on AR. They represent some the very … (21 comments)

Aggieland Rotary Club Helps Build Habitat Home in College Station - 09/25/10 09:47 PM
I was really proud to be a part of the work force today on the "Mary Makins" Habitat for Humanity Home on Georgia St. in  central College Station.  Mark Makins a beloved community individual passed away a few years ago. The home is being constructed in her memory and will be purchased and owned by the Ford Family .  Mary's husband Scott and the Ford family were all on hand today to help paint the interior of the home. There were approximately 8 members of the Aggieland Rotary Club including yours truly on hand to help. This is my 3rd habitat home … (0 comments)

Our New Texting Signs Work! - 09/24/10 12:22 AM
If you are considering using a broker to sell your home in College Station you need to be aware of the new texting service BCR Realty is offering on all its listings via our sign riders. This texting address enables consumers to get immediate information or questions answered about the property they are in front of. The system has several options. My favorite is that they can use it even without knowing for certain the address of the home they are looking at!
Want to know more then call or text me!

It's That Time of Deer Again! Wildlife Exemptions - 09/23/10 11:56 PM
Each year we have to prepare our annual survey of the deer population on our family ranch on the Navasota River in Brazos County. This is in conjunction with the Wildlife Exemption status for property taxes. The survey is recomended by a wildlife biologist.  One way to survey the population is at night with a spotlight. Another is with hidden stealth cameras that are infrared . The infrared doesn't seem to startle them as much as flash cameras so the deer are more relaxed and hang around longer. I personally believe this is a better way to survey

I Don'T Want It To Go Stale She said... - 09/23/10 01:23 AM
I have heard this statement a number of times through the years from various agents in the community.
They have a listing that hasn't sold during the regular selling season.......so when the listing contract comes up for renewal they feel badly for their sellers that it hasn't sold yet, and frequently blame themselves. I believe for the most part this sense of guilt is genuine and they sincerely do feel badly.  But the one thing I have learned in business and personal relationships is that it does no one any good at all to point fingers at anyone.  This includes ourselves.
It makes way better … (4 comments)

Wordless Wednesday At Lake Limestone - 09/23/10 01:00 AM
This little spider weaves her web each night by the spot light on the pier in front of our home . She seems to have no problem with obtaining enough food . Just look at all those flies  and mosquitoes in her web!  I seriously doubt she will be able to digest them all!  But she does us a great service!
Have a great Week!

More Positive News For College Station Texas! - 09/14/10 10:42 PM
Just as we are seeing a little downturn in our area ....some more great news about Texas A and M  surfaces!  Apparently The University ranks second nationally in a recent study where large companies , governmental agencies, and non-profits rated schools on how prepared and most ready to succeed their graduates were. Texas  A and M was only second to Penn State.   That is pretty great news considering almost 500 firms and entities participated in the survey! This news combined with the quickly growing Biotech Corridor and the new Heath Sciences College, should eventually combine to all help ensure that long term growth and prosperity … (10 comments)

"Beeing" Busy On A Wordless Wednesday - 09/01/10 12:34 AM
Recently we had bee hives placed on our land. I was really excited to do this because our veggie garden and flower gardens just haven't had the pollination we desired for a few years now.  These bees came from over a hundred miles away via a good beekeeper that we had referred to us. The bees have been gourging on the pollen in our moonflowers that bloom prolifically at night.  Each morning there are so many bees that it sounds like an airport with all the buzzing going on!  Can't wait for the honey!!
