weekend escape: A Great Weekend Get Away Spot In East Texas - 09/27/11 12:12 AM

If you have never been to Jefferson in Norheast Texas you have got to try it out. My wife and I needed a short escape wekend so we chose Jefferson. Charming is an understatement. The friendliest folks in the world, loads of antique stores, antique hotels, and wonderful B and B's like the Bennefield House where we stayed. We ate well, slept well, and relaxed well. The height of our mini -weekend was the great "Paranormal tour" of homes and other buildings that rate as some of the best in the state for "ghostly activity." The Alamo

We stayed at the historic Menger hotel next to the Alamo. In fact I had a great view of the Alamo grounds from our room. This morning before leaving we had breakfast at a fantastic Guenther House an antique home on the River adjacent to Pioneer Mills plant where they make wheat … (9 comments)
