INSTITUTE PARK, SALISBURY STREET, WORCESTER - 06/24/10 08:10 PM
The outlook for this weekend's weather in Worcester looks to be dry and if you are looking for an outdoor activity, here's one you may enjoy. My husband and I are contemplating getting a canoe. It's something that we think we might enjoy but just don't know enough about canoes and don't want to invest too much money and turn out, it's not all it's cracked up to be!
But this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Salisbury Pond, there is FREE canoeing for anyone interested. The Massachusetts Audobon Society, in partnership with the Friends of Institute Park are sponsoring … (2 comments)

HISTORICALLY LOW INTEREST RATES! - 06/24/10 04:46 PM
What's your excuse not to buy real estate right now? It can't be blamed on high interest rates!Just announced yesterday (JUNE 23, 2010) from the National Association of Realtors, interest rates are at an all-time low, under the 5% mark. So even though the homeowner tax credit expired, homebuyers can still save money on their mortgage.According to Freddie Mac, for a 30-year conventional, fixed-rate mortgage fell to 4.89 from 5.10 in April. Even better news is that home sales are still on the rise as May did show a steady pace, so we are on the right path.
Let's keep the … (3 comments)

TASTE OF SHREWSBURY STREET, WORCESTER - 06/22/10 09:19 PM

Well, my day in real estate is almost over, and I had completely forgot to attend one of my favorite events in Worcester! Taste of Shrewsbury Street was tonight from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Restaurant Row. Shrewsbury Street is a mile long stretch of many unique restaurants in Worcester. The Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association plan this event every year in June and admission is $25 if your purchase buttons ahead and $30, the day of the event. Proceeds from this event also benefit local charities, which I love to hear!
The street-long event has many local businesses in … (4 comments)

QUESTION ABOUT STANFORD WHO'S WHO - 06/22/10 06:20 PM
Wondering if any of you are in the Stanford Who's Who? I received a call today and after doing a phone bio, they wanted $900 to post my profile in the Who's Who directory.
If this for real?

FOUR HOUSING MARKET MYTHS - 06/20/10 11:56 PM
RISMEDIA, June 21, 2010-After several years of housing depreciation, the one thing that seems to be on everyone's mind is, "when will this housing recession end?" and "when will my house start gaining value again?" This eagerness by homeowners to get the housing market back on track has spawned several misconceptions about the housing market.
To help homeowners set reasonable expectations for the housing market in the coming years, Zillow's Chief Economist, Dr. Stan Humphries presented "Four Myths of the Housing Market" alongside Doug Duncan, chief economist for Fannie Mae and Bob Bach, chief economist for Grubb & Ellis at the … (2 comments)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY? - 06/20/10 09:48 AM
Well it's the morning of Father's Day and it's the day when many of you have plans to spend time with your Dads playing a round of golf, having a BBQ or just spending time honoring him and all that he has done for you to help make you who you are today.
Many of you, like myself, may also have the absence of a father in your life. Some Dads are serving our country. Some may be among the missing. Or some Dads have gone before their times and left so many of us behind.
Although this day, I will be honoring my husband … (3 comments)

THE WINE VINE, 142 HIGHLAND STREET, WORCESTER - 06/18/10 01:57 PM
For many years now, my husband and I have set aside Friday nights for our "Date Night" and usually go out for a nice dinner to celebrate the end of our work weeks. One of our favorite stops to start our Friday evening have been to The Wine Vine on 142-B Highland Street. Owners, Sang and Camile Chhoeuk couldn't be more welcoming. They have owned the business for 4 years. On Fridays nights, they have free wine tasting from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and offer many new wines for our tastebuds.
They also offer many varieties of cheeses, some locally made in … (5 comments)

HAS THE REAL ESTATE MARKET CRASHED? - 06/18/10 08:10 AM
Now that the homeowners' tax credit has expired, you may be wondering, "Has the real estate market crashed?". Quite the contrary. Sales are continuing to rise on bank-owned properties as investors are scooping them up quickly. Especially multi-families, in hopes that the market will come back and values will be UP. This may take a few years but Worcester is looking bright. With revitilization happening just about everywhere I go lately, Worcester's growth looks promising. City Manager, Michael O'Brien's idea launched the BUY WORCESTER NOW program in July, 2008. This program has helped many renters decide to purchase their first home … (1 comments)

BUYERS VISITING OPEN HOUSES - 06/18/10 08:06 AM
I won't be having an open house this Sunday because of Father's Day, but last Sunday, I held one in Charlton. The weather was alittle dreary and usually buyers do not like venturing out when there is a threat of rain, but some proved me wrong. I guess if you are looking to buy a home, you are looking in any type of weather!Open houses are very important for buyers as they are for the sellers, because buyers can preview several homes in one afternoon and compare properties in the area. It also helps buyers understand exactly what they are looking … (1 comments)

TAX CREDIT MISLEADING - 06/18/10 08:02 AM
Well, the Senate did vote on Wednesday (June 16th) to extend the tax credit but it's not really what many homebuyers were looking for. With a vote of 60-37, the Senate accepted an amendment to extend the credit, but only to homebuyers who currently have contracts to purchase a home and had signed an agreement before April 30th. This in no way extends the credit for new homebuyers now to purchase a home and for me, it's a huge disappointment. This extension is more for the backlog of loans that have to be processed and gives them until September 30th to … (4 comments)

NEW ENGLAND ROAST BEEF, 33 PARK AVENUE, WORCESTER - 06/16/10 08:18 PM
One of my son's favorite places to grab lunch, New England Roast Beef is somewhat of a staple in Worcester. Located on 33 Park Avenue, Worcester and open 6 days a week, New England Roast Beef offers Specialty Sandwiches, Soups, Appetizers, Salads, Seafood and their most popular Major League Wings. Their specialty sandwiches are named after the surrounding colleges, such as "The Becker" which is a turkey, roast beef, American Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and peppercorn dressing. "The WPI" consists of roast beef, American Cheese, tomatoes, onions and horseradish to shake it up a bit. Other sandwiches are named for some of the … (2 comments)
