EVO, 232 CHANDLER STREET, WORCESTER - 07/31/10 09:29 PM

Voted one of the Worcester's best restaurants, my husband and I finally tried EVO on 232 Chandler Street, Worcester. Supposedly EVO is unlike any restaurant in this area, and we had heard so many good things about it. With us both being on diets for our weight loss challenge, this restaurant offers a variety of dishes for the Vegetarian, Vegan, or Gluten-Free consumers. The restaurant is located almost at the corner of Park Avenue and Chandler Street in the Living Earth building.
For starters, we had each a drink and ordered the Stone Baked Avocado Tuscany Salad for $10. The … (2 comments)

Well, there's goes my diet! Starting on Monday, August 2nd, Worcester restaurants will once again offer specials for the first two weeks in August. For many years, Providence and Boston have held this delicious event but last year, Worcester introduced it and it proved to be a great success!
Forty-eight restaurants will have three course dinner specials for us to try for only $22.10 plus tax and tip per person. Last year, when we really weren't watching our weight, my husband and I tried many new restaurants and enjoyed the special prices, as well as the delicious food!

MY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE ~ WEEK FOUR! - 07/29/10 07:38 AM
Already one month of my husband and I's weight loss challenge, my BMI is now 26.8. I need to get it down to normal range which would mean losing another 11 pounds! We have only 6 more weeks before our anniversary trip to Jamaica and we are still faithfully going to the gym every day for an hour except for Saturdays. We have to take one day off!
Temptations are still with me everyday but I have a stronger willpower than I have ever had. Like anything when you have a goal, you focus on reaching that goal and everything around you … (7 comments)

I WENT TO RAINCAMP BOSTON! - 07/28/10 08:14 AM

If
If you would have asked me 6 weeks ago from Raincamp was, I wouldn't have had a clue! But on Monday, I ventured into Boston to attend the first Raincamp in my area to meet some of my fellow Rainmakers! This venture started early in 2010, when I confirmed a friendship on Facebook with Kathleen Cooper. Little did I know, that this friendship would lead to a whole lot of knowledge in this business and a whole lot of fun! I got to know Kathleen after discussing on each other's walls about our obsessions with "The Biggest Loser" and "The … (5 comments)

But I Can't Blog! - 07/26/10 05:29 AM

Two months ago, if you asked me to blog, I would have told you that I couldn't and that I wasn't even going to try! Well, that was only until I started going to a workshop on Blogging in June. Shortly after taking the class, we were told about the real estate website "ACTIVE RAIN". I had never heard of it, nor did I think I had the time for another website to utilize in my business.
Spending many hours on Facebook, networking with friends, family, business professionals and clients, I thought, "Why do I need to blog?" Well, now … (7 comments)

IS IT MONDAY YET?! - 07/25/10 07:41 AM

Is it Monday YET? Most of us would have Friday in that sentence but I have been asking myself this question for the past week now! Can't wait till tomorrow when I head down the Massachusetts Turnpike early tomorrow morning into Boston. I have about an hour drive into Boston and am anticipating all the things I will learn tomorrow when I spend the day there.
I am a newbie to Active Rain, just joining in June, but I feel like I've been a part of this real estate community forever! The information that I have gotten from all the … (3 comments)

TWO TORNADO WARNINGS IN WORCESTER! - 07/23/10 09:57 PM
It was a wild week in Worcester! Both Monday and Wednesday evening this week, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for the Worcester County area. With the humidity levels reaching over 70%, conditions were favorable for tornadoes. One viewer spotted a funnel cloud in the Ashburnham area, just 35 miles northeast of Worcester. After a couple of 90 degree days, another tornado warning was issued on Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 and extended until 8:00 p.m. that evening. This time, the area was 11 miles west of Worcester and was moving east into Boston.
The tornado warnings this week … (3 comments)

MY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE ~ WEEK THREE! - 07/23/10 10:43 AM

Well, it's week three for me and my husband with our weight loss challenge! We have been faithfully going to the gym every day except for Saturdays. Sadly, we haven't been going out to eat as often because we are both afraid of the temptations when you go out to eat. There is so much good stuff on the menu and before you even sit down, they throw the bread and oil on the table. Then comes the drinks and I'd rather eat my calories then drink them.
I've also come to realize my weaknesses. As I was driving around … (5 comments)

MY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE ~ END OF WEEK TWO! - 07/18/10 08:02 PM

Well, another week of my husband and I's weight loss challenge! We survived another weekend of dieting and exercising. It's tough on weekends to control what you put in your mouth. We missed one day at the gym but did go tonight, even though we both didn't feel up to it. Once we did go, we were glad we were there. It does get you motivated again, as long as you don't go home and eat all the calories you worked off!
I have 15 more pounds to lose for me to be at my target weight for our trip … (7 comments)

WORCESTER HISTORY ~ BANCROFT TOWER, SALISBURY PARK - 07/14/10 02:26 PM

Bancroft Tower in Salisbury Park is right in my neighborhood. Situated on one of the seven hills in Worcester, one of the wealthiest men in Worcester in the late 1800's, Stephen Salisbury III donated over 11.8 acres of land in this area and built this tower. Constructed for around $15,000, this tower similar to a castle was built out of granite, boulders and cobblestone.
He then named the tower "Bancroft Tower" in honor of George Bancroft. George was a statesman, politician and had written a ten-volume history of America. He was also the euologist for Abraham Lincoln and the founder of the … (3 comments)

" I NEED JILLIAN!" - 07/13/10 09:29 PM

After one week of signing up for Planet Fitness and going faithfully to the gym and watching what I eat, I'm still not pleased with my weight loss for the first week. I lost 2 pounds so I guess that's better than gaining but my husband and I just finished watching "Losing it with Jillian". It's a spinoff of the famous weight loss series "The Biggest Loser". Jillian visits people in their own homes and diagnoses their reasons for gaining weight. She shows them the right foods and meals to make for their families and the right exercises. On the … (9 comments)

WHAT'S YOUR BMI? - 07/11/10 07:38 PM
Well, it's been one week since my husband and I have started our weight loss challenge. As I told you in one of my first blogs, my BMI was 28 when I started and according to the BMI calculator I use online, I am considered overweight. Like that was a surprise! My goal is to be around 25 before our anniversary trip in September.
The link I am using is easy to use and you can even put in your age which to me is also a factor as our metabolism slows down in our 40s.

PICCOLO'S, 157 SHREWSBURY STREET, WORCESTER - 07/10/10 04:45 AM

One of my favorite restaurants in Worcester is Piccolo's on Shrewsbury Street. Since my husband and I have lived here, we have been sampling many of the restaurants in this area. One area in Worcester, called "Restaurant Row" is on Shrewsbury Street. About 40 different eateries are within a 1.5 mile stretch.
The dark wood interior and soft lighting along with Frank Sinatra tunes add to the warm ambiance. You may even hear the Dean Martin tune, "That's A'More!" when you are there dining too. The place is quaint and the wait staff is very friendly. The food is the … (3 comments)

END OF 1st WEEK TO THE WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE - 07/09/10 03:02 PM

Well, it's Friday, the end to my husband and I's first week at our weight loss challenge. The real challenge will be the weekends. To start off the weekend, we are going out to eat tonight with friends for supper! We'll be celebrating my best friend's birthday and this restaurant is one of her favorites.
My husband and I just LOVE italian food and I know the first thing that we will have to say "NO" to. Bread is our weakness. I remember when I got a bread machine, we were having fresh bread daily but also packing on the pounds! I'm … (8 comments)

I LOVE MY JOB! - 07/08/10 09:27 PM
I had such a busy day today and I am not complaining! I truly LOVE what I do! Five years ago, I started in real estate and there were many agents who warned me about the long hours, stressful deadlines, and difficult situations that could arise, but to me it's all worth it to see my clients happy. Some agents in my office rarely go to the closings and they ask why I go. For me, I love to see the whole buying/selling process from start to finish. It's like not seeing someone graduate! It's quite an accomplishment nowadays to get … (11 comments)

PERFECT GAME SPORTS GRILL AND LOUNGE, 64 WATER STREET, WORCESTER - 07/07/10 10:48 AM

My husband, Ken and I have been anxious to visit the Perfect Game on Water Street in Worcester. It's one of the newest sports bars in Worcester. From time to time, we like to go out and watch all the major sports teams on TV. The Perfect Game is the perfect place to do that!
The Perfect Game is located on Water Street along with local businesses of all sorts. An art gallery is right across the street and a bakery is a few blocks away. Easily located off of Route 290, I think Perfect Game will help with bringing more to … (7 comments)

THE LUNK ALARM? - 07/07/10 08:20 AM
Well, now I know what a lunk alarm is. My husband and I joined Planet Fitness in West Boylston last night. We signed up for "No Commitment" plan, (how appropriate)! It's $10/month which we thought was a pretty good deal but there was a $39 start up fee to join and an annual fee of $29 thereafter. Still alot less expensive then some of the other gyms we researched in our area.
As one of the trainers was going over the equipment and general rules, she showed us the "Lunk Alarm". The alarm will sound if anyone is heard grunting. My … (3 comments)

HERE IT GOES! WEEK ONE! - 07/06/10 07:38 AM
I know, it is not Monday but it's the start of my work week and the weight loss challenge for my husband and I. After months of avoiding my bathroom scale, I stepped lightly on it this morning, hoping to see a smaller number but scales do not lie. Course, I'm punishing myself after a long holiday weekend of cookouts and eating out, but I need to be honest.
Although I won't be disclosing my weight on Active Rain, I can tell all of you that my BMI, Body Mass Index is 28. Not too bad when you look at it … (5 comments)

THE POWER IN ACTIVERAIN! - 07/06/10 12:35 AM
Well, I'm a newbie to Active Rain and have to admit, I didn't think I really could get into this blogging thing, but I am seeing it worth my time.
On Friday afternoon, I had wrote a blog about the New England Summer Nationals that were held in Worcester this July 4th weekend. No sooner did I submit the blog and turn off my computer, my phone rang! It was someone asking me about the event and where he would be able to park! Not that it was a lead to buy or sell his house but at the time, he … (16 comments)

MY WEIGHT CHALLENGE BEGINS! - 07/05/10 09:01 PM
Okay, the holiday weekend is over and it's back to the work week for most of us. For my husband and I, it's the beginning of our weight loss challenge. Two and half months from now, we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in Jamaica. We have had many conversations about losing the weight before this trip and not knowing exactly how to go about it.
Well, over dinner tonight, we decided to join Planet Fitness together. Most Planet Fitness locations are open 24 hours a day, course you won't see us there at 2:00 a.m. on the treadmills, but I guess … (9 comments)

THE JOYS OF CAMPING..... - 07/04/10 05:09 PM
Well, I'm sitting here outside at my campsite here in Barre on a wonderful Sunday evening. I just love it here, being outside with nature, my dog, Bib by my side. My husband, Ken is also nearby talking on his ham radio. Tonight is our last night here before we head back home and head back to reality. It's been a great weekend weather wise and so nice to have a change of scenery for a few days.
My experience camping goes back to when my parents started camping. In the summer of 1985, my parents rented a small Class C camper … (5 comments)
