Economy Changes affect sizes of Homes - 01/29/10 10:55 AM
For the first time in 27 years new home buyers are looking to buy smaller homes driving down the average size of homes built since 1982. The National Association of Home Builders found that the average size of a new home that was finished in 2009 fell to 2480 square feet from 2520 square feet in 2008. With the new tax credit available of $8000 the market is being flooded with first time home buyers who do not mind the compromise of a smaller home for a lower price. There is also a surge in the 55 and over crowd purchasing

The Smallest Garage Ever! - 01/26/10 11:10 AM
I was laughing so hard looking at this because I know half the world could probably not do this on a daily basis without banging up their vehicle. He is definitely ingenious! Thank goodness for the big garages we have! If we approached everything in life like he approached this particular situation we would all do terrific!

Speechless Sunday - More of the beautiful Sky - 01/24/10 08:05 AM
The sky has been incredibly amazing and unusual this winter. The colors I have gotten in my recent posted photos as well as these are colors you almost never see in winter. Here are a few shots that I have taken from my deck at different times during the past week. My sliders to the deck are in my dining room and that is usually where I sit with my laptop. Quite a bit lately when I am sitting there working I look out and see the sun coming up or going down and the sky just looks so pretty. Several

Photographing People In a Public Place - What is the Law? - 01/22/10 03:50 PM
Via Debi Boucher - "Realtor Showcase" Real Estate Slideshows/ Photographer (Memories DVDs - Realtor Showcase Slideshows): Photography In a Public Place - What is the Law? Comments in a recent post got me curious about this question. So I did what I always do when I want to know something - I went online to research it. Interestingly, there is a ton of information online on the subject. It is hard to wade through what might be law, and what might be someones opinion. But this is what I filtered out. A photographers' right to take photographs, and publish them

Using Origami Towel Objects in Home Staging - 01/21/10 06:41 PM
Via Mannie Tantawy, APSD (The Staging Fashionista): Most of you that have seen my previous two blogs on origami towel folding know that I love creating towel desgins and I use them in my home staging projects as signature props. I want to share how I used one of my creations in an actual home staging project. I love staging areas that most folks ignore or don't take the time to stage but I find areas like the laundry room and closets a perfect place to add some extra interest that buyers will remember. So here is how using origami towel objects in home

The Kindle - is it for you? - 01/21/10 06:28 PM
I recently got a Kindle as a gift, and as someone who never goes anywhere without a book, I absolutely love it! For those who aren't too familiar with them they are 1/3 of an inch and weigh 10 ounces. They can hold up to 1500 books at any one time and receive them wirelessly in approximately 60 seconds. You have the option of turning the wireless off and on so it doesn't drain your battery. By keeping the wireless off you can read up to a week on one battery charge. How amazing is that? Perfect for someone

According to official estimates, there are 330,000 Orphans in Haiti right now. Some of these kids are in the process of being adopted by parents from the United States and other countries. Many of these orphanages are in dire need of food and water. Some of these babies are dying from dehydration as I’m writing these lines. The situation is desperate. These kids are dying while their adoptive parents are doing all they can to rescue

Wow Look at that sky! Again! - 01/17/10 11:56 AM
These are also pictures of the sky taken this week. The sky does not usually look like this in the winter. I was coming along the road and could see this through the trees and had to try and find a place to pull over to capture the sky like this. Luckily I came to a field which gave me a good opening as you can see. They didn't come out as nice as I had hoped they would but I was rushing because there really was nowhere to pull over but you get the idea of how unbelievably beautiful

Drive Safely! Terrible crash - 01/15/10 12:14 PM
This terrible crash happened in front of my husband's job yesterday. This happened on a road where the speed limit is 35 miles an hour. How fast do you think the driver was going to do this kind of damage? This is a wake up call for all those speeders out there that think "this will never happen to me!" This was a Honda Accord. This was not after they were "cut out" or removed or cut the car apart. This is exactly how the car looked in the minutes after the ambulances had taken the driver and passenger

Hey! Let Us Out! - 01/14/10 07:14 PM
I was on my way to an appointment yesterday. Wow I am just realizing how many of my blogs start this way. :-) Any whoooo I was coming along this road and saw a run-away-cow. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of that particular cow because I jumped out and tried to keep cars on this fast moving road from hitting this rather quick moving cow while I tried to keep her off the road. Within minutes one of her owners showed up and proceeded to chase her up and down the road while I tried to warn people on

It solves the problem of melted water in the bottom of coolers that can ruin food like bread, cold cuts etc...You fill the Ice Cube up with water and put it in the freezer. This will then go in your cooler. Not only will it supply you with cold drinking water, it will keep your cooler totally dry and can hold a six pack. It can be used a variety of ways. Caulk – A Valuable Tool for Home Maintenance - 01/09/10 05:17 PM
Via Lennar Corporation (Lennar Corporation): What is one of the most-used items both during the construction of your Lennar home and after you've moved in? If you guessed caulk, you're correct! Caulk is an extremely useful substance that has many different purposes. During construction, it is used to seal certain openings, prevent water penetration, and provide a neat finish in various areas - both on the interior and exterior of your new Lennar home. Over time, caulk deteriorates and will need to be repaired or replaced. This is one of the main homeowner maintenance items you will need to be aware

The crocheted tablecloth - what a great story! - 01/09/10 09:59 AM
I got this in an email and just had to share it. It was such a touching story and we have had several such stories in our local paper over the past year. Never stop believing in the power of love and hope! Enjoy! The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn , arrived in early October excited about their opportunities When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on

Thankful Thursday - Thought we could all use some color! - 01/07/10 12:49 PM
I was coming from a listing appointment about a month ago (when things were still a little bit green) and took some unexpected photos that I put on my computer for another day and came across them today. Today when everything is brown and blah and we are expecting another snow storm by morning. I was driving down a road that I travel all the time when in the distance I saw two animals in the road that appeared to be fighting. I could tell one was a squirrel by the long and quickly moving tail. The other I wasn't

Check out the Moose (s) in this video! - 01/01/10 02:04 PM
Via Mike Saunders (Keller Williams Realty - Greater Athens): I received a link to this video in an email this morning. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought that I would share it with all of you in the hope that you feel as good after watching it that I did. Although I have been to Alaska multiple times and have seen plenty of moose, I have never seen anything like this. Although I am sure that Jesse Clifton and others have enjoyed scenes like this very often. So, without any further adieu:
