How Can You Resist This Face? - 05/29/10 04:33 PM
The other day I had to stop by a friend's house and drop something off.  When I was at her front door she told me I had to come in because she had picked up "something new."  Well after seeing this I had to run back to the car for the camera of course!  How adorable is this guy?  He is eight weeks old and is a pure bred mini dachshund.  Anyone who knows me, knows I can't resist animals especially babies!  Love him love him love him!!!

A new way to get rid of junk - 05/26/10 07:23 PM

What a great idea!

Via Richard Strahm (RE/MAX Realty Group - Harleysville, PA):
I just saw a new way to get rid of junk.  I'm no Billy Mays (may he rest in peace), and I'm not getting any benefit from this.  I just think it's a cool idea.
In the real estate business, we always have homes that need cleaning out.  Perhaps it's an estate house.  Or elderly seller's with decades of junk.  Or plain old sloppy people.  It you're like me, you have a Dumpster company on speed dial.  And that can be expensive for either your clients or … (21 comments)

SPEECHLESS SUNDAY - A Touch of Color - 05/23/10 02:00 PM
Last week when I did my open house and we were driving around the neighborhood putting out signs we kept passing this one house with a big rhododendron bush that was just beautiful.  After the 3rd time we went by I said that before the end of the day I wanted to take a picture of the bush (tree really) because the color just caught your eye every time you went by.  So when we were picking the signs back up I snapped some photos.  I don't know that the pictures really do the tree justice but hopefully you can see … (31 comments)

A Complete Inspection for Your Client's Investment Protection - 05/21/10 06:54 PM

Pro-Active Inspections
Real Estate Agent listing a home?
Having the home inspected before it’s listed is recommended.
With the current inventory, sellers need an edge.
Potential buyers will conduct an inspection. A Pre-listing Inspection will allow you & the seller to pro-actively identify what an inspector may find.
This will give you and the seller time to correct many items, thereby minimizing an inspector’s findings, which will make the house more appealing.
Pro-active inspections performed prior to listing will help in many ways:
Potential Safety issues may be identified and corrective action can … (9 comments)

How To Disconnect From Your Home When Selling - 05/17/10 07:55 PM
What makes a house a home?  The people that live in the house and everything they place in it are reflections of their lifestyle.  When it's for sale, your home becomes a product.  To capture potential buyers' attention, it is important to allow them to visualize living there, in "your" space.  Real estate staging allows that to happen.
The secret is to turn the home back into a house. You, the seller, will be moving, so it helps to begin packing up personal belongings and collections.  This alone opens up each room by decluttering and depersonalizing.  Model homes sell lifestyles.  Everything … (12 comments)

ARE YOUR ANIMALS A SHIELD? - 05/15/10 03:10 PM
In reading a post today from Randy Ostrander it got me to thinking about people and their pets.   In all the years I have been in Real Estate pets have really never presented a major problem.  However in the past year my clients and I have been chased, jumped on and frightened by more dogs than in the last 7 years.  Do more people have more pets?  Are they more careless?  Are the dogs more ferocious?  Or are people less respectful and dogs less disciplined?  Today is the perfect example.  I had to go out to a seller's residence because … (18 comments)

Preparing For a Home Inspection - 05/12/10 02:38 PM

The following are a few suggestions that                     will make a home inspection go smoother:
1. Make sure the inspector has access – not only to the house but also furnaces, water heaters and air conditioning units. (especially in closets, attics and crawl spaces)

2. Remove items blocking access to HVAC equipment, electric service, panels, water heaters, etc...

3. Check to see the garage is open and that any water heaters, utility panels or shutoffs and resets for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) within are accessible.

4. Unlock areas the inspector must access … (11 comments)
