Keller Williams Halloween Party 2010 - 10/31/10 06:32 PM
We had our monthly office meeting this week and a lot of the Keller Williams people came in costume.  I think everyone did a really great job.  We had an accupuncture demonstration by Dana Zampella that was awesome.
We had a blast and our "serial (cereal) killer won the costume contest.  That person was Claudia Jacobs of Claudia Jacob's Designs who we all turn to when we need a stager.  For those of you in our area looking for a great office talk to me about Keller Williams.  For those in need of a Realtor please call me anytime!

The Haunted History of Halloween - 10/30/10 05:17 PM
I came across this video and was surprised at how little I really knew about Halloween.   I had no idea that Halloween had been around for 3000 years .  I was even more surprised to see that Halloween started with the Celtic people in Ireland and fairies roamed the land (or so they believed) as trick or treaters do today in costume on Halloween.  Interesting video.  Enjoy! Have a safe and fun Halloween!

Haunted Houses - 10/29/10 04:01 PM
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays.  I love to pick out a new costume each year and have worn a costume almost every year into adulthood.  In the last 15 years or so all of my costumes have come from Marlu Costumes in Port Jervis, NY.  This year was the first year I have been too busy to even think about making time to pick out a costume.  I was a little bummed but the warm weather from this week has helped to cheer me up.  Here is a great video showing a high tech haunted house.  You … (19 comments)

I Get Lots of Calls on My Print Ads - 10/26/10 03:28 PM

I couldn't have said this better if I said it myself.  This post by J.P. Faranda hits the nail right on the head about print ad marketing.  I ran an ad recently at the insistence of one of my sellers because the distribution was over 500,000.  Not one call.  For whatever reason people are turning to the internet to do their home searches.  They may read the paper as they commute or drink coffee or relax in the evening but history shows it doesn't lead to phone calls.

Bon Jovi - Vampires - 10/26/10 02:57 PM
I have been so crazy busy that the Bon Jovi posting has gotten away from me again!  For those of us here that are the true Bon Jovi fans you will have seen this movie.  When it was on at my house it got a lot of groans from friends and family alike but there can never be too much Bon Jovi in my house.   In regards to the movie I am definitely not a vampire fan.  I don't watch vampire movies although I will admit I did watch the Twilight movies.  I thought they were good which was very unexpected.  … (9 comments)

FDA approves Botox for migraine headaches! - 10/22/10 04:22 PM
As a severe migraine sufferer this is interesting news for me.  My neurologist first asked me to try Botox about 10 years ago.  Of course I refused as there was no way I was putting Botulism in my forehead!  Not only that but at that time it was around $150 per shot and you needed around 6 shots each time from temple to temple and your insurance didn't pay for it and who could afford that?  Then there is also the multiple needle thing...!

Haaaaaaaaaave You Met Craig Daniels? - 10/21/10 01:55 PM
Have you ever watched that show "How I Met Your Mother?"  You know how Barney always pushes Ted forward (when around women) and says "Haaaaaave you met Ted?"  Well today I am kinda doing that but with Craig Daniels.  Craig Daniels is a newer member to Active Rain but he is a virtual limitless fountain of information.  Not only he is extremely helpful with Social Media and all that comes with it - If your blog needs tweaking, your website isn't what it should be or you don't know a thing about HTML, Craig is your guy.  Subscribe to his blog … (40 comments)

Joel Burns - I Salute You! - 10/19/10 01:08 PM
Before today I had never heard of Joel Burns.   Joel Burns is a Fort Worth City Councilman.  I saw the video below after reading Stewart Penn's blog.  In the past week Jason Crouch had spoken out about the same thing and in the same way as Joel Burns and he is to be commended as well. BULLYING.  I think somehow in someway it has touched every single one of us in one way or another over the years.  During your school age years it is to "be expected" because that is what happens at school.  You stand up for yourself, you … (6 comments)

An iStand - Do You Have One? - 10/19/10 12:08 PM
I saw this cute little gadget today - yes Al and Peggy gadget girl is back!  I am constantly trying to prop up my smart phone so I can look at it while I am working on the computer etc... Unfortunately with the Droid it is extremely slippery (unless you have the rubber cover which I have exchanged for a snazzy plastic one!) and it is unbelievably hard to prop up anywhere which is very frustrating when I am trying to multitask.  Today I saw something called the iStand which will solve that problem and it is a neat looking little … (9 comments)

The flowers are just about gone now if not totally.  I am going to miss the green and the flowers!  This is a picture from a couple weeks back when everything was still green and flowering.  We have had a frost just about every night this week so winter is definitely on the way.   Hurry back spring!!

Why Life is Worth Living – My Compassion for the Bullied and Depressed (VERY long and VERY personal post) - 10/16/10 03:12 PM

My heart just breaks over these suicides attributed to bullying in the last month.  Until people take a stand and say that bullying is not acceptable it will continue uninterrupted.  Kudos to Jason Crouch for having the courage to speak out and to offer his hand to anyone who may need help.

Funny Dog Clips - 10/13/10 02:07 PM
Everyone knows how much I love animals.  I came across this hilarious clip of dogs and their owners that had me laughing pretty hard and I thought others would enjoy it.   Luckily none of these things has ever happened to me and hopefully never will! You may need to turn the sound down if you are not a fan of hard music. :-)   Enjoy!

Rise and Shine! - 10/12/10 04:27 PM
I was getting ready for work the other day and my little dog Frankie was ready to go out so we headed out to the back of my house and the sun was just coming up.
I have never really taken a picture of the sun itself and William Johnson has told me several times to just go for it.  I ran back inside and grabbed my camera and snapped off several shots and liked this one the best.  Even with the sun up it was still quite dark out as you can see.  It was around 6:30 or so in … (16 comments)

October is Children’s Safety Month - 10/11/10 01:55 PM
Children need a clean environment, clean indoor air, safe food and drinking water in order to grow healthily. They may be more vulnerable than adults to some environmental risks because: -Children are 30% of the world’s population -Children’s nervous, immune, digestive and other systems are still developing. -Children eat more food, drink more fluids and breath more air than adults. -Children’s behavior such as crawling and placing items in their mouths may result in greater exposure.

What to do During Power Outages - 10/10/10 11:57 AM
For all of us who have been getting the heavy rainstorms these past few weeks the power has been going off and on more now than in the past year.  If your power goes out are you prepared?  Would you know what to do? If there is a power outage the first thing you want to do is make sure it is more than just your home.  If you can't tell by looking out the window then check with your neighbors.  If they have power then maybe it is something simple like a tripped breaker. Once you have determined that there … (7 comments)

Not So Silent Saturday - Timber!! - 10/09/10 03:35 PM
Two weeks ago my husband decided there was a tree in our yard that needed to come down because it was dying and could possibly fall on our garage or cars.  I never would have guessed they would have tried to bring it down themselves so the video I got was fleeting from my flip camera.  I didn't know where the big video camera was and I don't think it was charged anyway.  It is also my first foray into doing a video with the flip and then sending it to YouTube.  Very simple I might add, I love the flip … (18 comments)

What pictures and thoughts come to mind when you hear “the wheel of life” or “spinning wheel”?
Are you thinking about how the world is always turning as we move through it?  Or are you thinking more like a coach and picturing the different parts of your life that should balance together to make up the whole?  Or …is the image that comes to mind the little wheel found in a hamster’s cage and you’re in it running non stop!
