The Mechanic with Jason Statham - 01/31/11 06:08 PM
Yesterday I got to see my daughter and her boyfriend on a day off from college and we decided to hit the movies since it was such a freezing cold day.  We saw the new movie "The Mechanic" with Jason Statham and Ben Foster.  Both of them were outstanding.  This is a remake of the 1970's movie with Charles Bronson.  First let me say I loooooooove Jason Statham and have seen all of his movies and this one did not disappoint.  I also have seen most, if not all of Charles Bronson's movies and this fit right in.This is definitely not … (11 comments)

Cats, Dogs and Babies - What could be better? - 01/28/11 03:00 PM
Well it's Friday and what better way to finish out a loooong week than by having a good laugh?  We have been pounded by snowstorm after snowstorm with another on the way.  Buyer and seller appointments that keep getting changed because of the weather and no sign of Spring in sight.  If you are an animal lover or love to watch babies than this is a cute video for you.  But watch out!  Your stomach may be hurting when it is over from all the laughing you will do.  Enjoy and have a great weekend!

It is that time again.  Time to get all those papers together and get a total of all of those numbers for the accountant.  Have you planned for all of your deductions for 2010?  If not or if you missed any, now is the time to get started for 2011.
MILEAGE-Have you kept a log of all of your business mileage?  The dates and the mileage accrued?  At 50 cents per mile this deduction can add up very quickly if you are someone who is always on the road.  (You could also choose to go with your actual automobile depreciation and … (19 comments)

If Criminals Aren't Afraid of our Police Officers, then Where Does that Leave Us?? - 01/26/11 04:34 PM

This is a moving video from Kathy Streib about two officers recently killed in the line of duty in Florida.  When are they going to change the laws about guns in this country?

Via Actively Raining Thoughts-Kathy Streib- Stager-South Florida - 561-914-6224 (Room Service Home Staging):
Most of us are taught from early childhood that the Police Officer is our friend.  We respect them and appreciate that they put their lives on the line for us. Yesterday I took some time to watch the Miami-Dade  community honor two fallen officers shot in the line of duty.

Preparing to Purchase a Home - 01/24/11 06:57 PM
Whether a first time home buyer or a seasoned veteran you must always prepare prior to getting out there and house hunting.  Mortgage and credit requirements have changed quite a bit over the last few years so you don't want to be caught unprepared.
Check your credit score The better your score the better rate you will get which will also mean less of a down payment and lower monthly payments.  Don't apply for any new credit during the year before you apply for your mortgage.
Do you have savings for the down payment and closing costs? Again your … (14 comments)

The Authentic Home - 01/22/11 10:56 AM
The authentic home is your own home that suits your needs.  It reflects your personality and style, and it not only functions but looks good and feels good.  If there is a room that is not being used, try and figure out why.  If you have a family room and no one uses it because it's uncomfortable, that's not an authentic room.
With some editing, rearranging and new items, your home can be an authentic home.  For example, the right color can give life to a room, whether it's a new color on the wall or in the finishing touches.  Changing … (23 comments)

Wordless Wednesday - What Laptop Bag? - 01/19/11 05:34 PM
A few weeks ago I had to take my laptop with me to work and I got out my laptop bag and put it on the chair.  In the 3 seconds it took me to start packing up my laptop and turn around, my cat jumped up and made herself comfortable.  It looked as if she had been sitting there for an hour instead of for less than 10 seconds.  I think it was Miley's way of saying why go to work when you can stay home with me?

Home Depot Filter Thievery Problems - 01/10/11 07:23 PM
So those of you who saw my last post know I had a flooded house this weekend.  After I took care of my appointments and returned home to help clean up I had to go to Home Depot because one of the parts that was purchased for the repair was missing a piece.

So off to Home Depot in Middletown, NY I went so the repair work could continue.  The filtration unit has multiple pieces and the one missing was the O ring.  So when I get to Home Depot and explain the problem I eventually get someone who … (17 comments)

Thank You to My Client Who Offered Me Her Shower - 01/10/11 06:49 PM
In a weird way the snowstorm saved my house this weekend.  As a result of the snowstorm I had to change several appointments this weekend from Saturday to Sunday.   So, because I had these appointments on Sunday I bounded out of bed at 7 am and ran to the shower and when I turned it on there was NO WATER.   EEEEEKKK!  I knew this couldn't be good.  I hurried downstairs and sure enough as I came down the stairs I could see things FLOATING.  UGH!  And no there are NO PICTURES.   And so began my Sunday.  So while my husband began … (17 comments)

I really don't want a sign in my yard. It's none of my neighbors business if I'm selling my house. - 01/10/11 05:56 PM

This is a great post from Tish Lloyd about how important it is to have a sign in front of your property when you are placing it for sale.  You can really do yourself a disservice by trying to hide the fact that you are selling the property when by placing it for sale the main thing you are trying to do is put it in front of the public.

A Visit With a Fellow Active Rainer - 01/06/11 02:14 PM
So yesterday I got to sit down with Lora (Leah) Stern who is my buddy from Raincamp New York City last year who I haven't seen since then so it was loooong overdue.  She is the sweetest person and I was so looking forward to getting together.  I thought we were going to be catching up and doing computer things but she hijacked me with her camera AND talked me into the Masterminds group so that kept us busy for our visit.  She is soooo persuasive.  Watch out for her!  She wanted me to join since they needed someone REALLY YOUNG.  … (17 comments)

Another Successful Closing with a Great Testimonial - 01/04/11 02:58 PM
A couple weeks back I had a commercial closing with a couple who was really great to work with.  Over the process of looking for a commercial building for their business not only were they my clients but we became good friends as well.   Those who deal in commercial sales know how long these deals can take and the amount of money and effort that is expended making these deals happen.  This deal was no different and no matter now many obstacles, delays and frustrations we were up against they always kept their cool and made my job that much easier … (9 comments)
