Avoiding Darkness in Your Listing Photos - HDR or Just Dim it Down! - 10/23/11 04:20 PM
This is a post from Jeanean Gendron showing how photos taken on different settings can make such a big difference on the photos themselves. This is a pet peeve of mine - I hate when I see photos that are so dark you can't make them out. Great job Jeanean! Via Jeanean Gendron ~ Redding & Shasta County Specialist (Real Living, Real Estate Professionals): I still see many of the agents in my local area using photos with "blow out" or "white out" from the glare of sunlight coming through windows. There are some easy things you can do to avoid this.

But remember, you must be on the phone you want added to the list WHEN YOU MAKE THE CALL. This phone number is the National Do Not Call Registry and takes just seconds to complete. It

Light The Night Walk for Leukemia 2011 Paying It Forward - 10/17/11 02:51 PM
This past Saturday, October 15th, I was supposed to walk in the "Light The Night" walk for Leukemia. Unfortunately as most of you know I was extremely ill over the last month or so. Thank goodness I am on the mend and didn't want to miss this event because it is a very important cause. I was able to be there and observe the event but unfortunately was not able to do the walk even though I tried because I am still just too short of breath. The attendance was fabulous and the amount of money that was raised was

Light The Night Walk for Leukemia & Lymphoma 2011 - 10/16/11 12:09 PM
Yesterday on October 15, 2011 was the first of what will be an annual event in downtown Goshen, New York. It was the Light The Night fund raising walk for Leukemia and Lymphoma. It was quite cold and there was a pretty strong wind, probably our first real day of fall but that didn't stop everyone from turning out for this important event. There was food, dance acts to entertain the crowd, music, contests and more as everyone gathered and waited for the walk to begin. There were VIP areas for the fund raising teams that had managed to raise $5000

Rise of The Planet of The Apes - 10/13/11 02:09 PM
Back when Rise of the Planet of The Apes came out (a few months ago) I went to see this movie kicking and screaming. I am not a fan of the previous Planet of the Apes movies. I know that will illicit a lot of booooos from die hard fans but I just never liked any of the movies. I found them boring and just too violent with not much of a believable story. (for me anyway) As a result I was definitely not looking forward to seeing this movie. What a surprise this movie was. I loved it from

Wordless Wednesday - Up, Up in the Sky! - 10/12/11 07:24 AM

It was still pretty dark and the sun hadn't really come out yet so I quick grabbed the camera and took a few shots before they passed by. Do You Know Where Your Listings Are? Do You Take Pictures of The ACTUAL Listing? - 10/11/11 01:22 PM
Yesterday I was out with a client who is looking to buy a parcel of land. I was amazed as I made the appointments for these properties at how many of the listing agents had NEVER EVEN WALKED THE PROPERTY. I was further amazed by agents telling me they weren't exactly sure where the property was. Whenever I am going to view a land listing I usually have a few standard questions: Is there a sign? Will I be able to see it? How much road frontage? Is there a survey? Is there a way to find it if the sign

Recycle Your Cell Phones! - 10/10/11 07:24 AM
Every year millions of cell phones are discarded and discarded improperly. At Flipswap they will give you cash for every phone you turn in. Not only will they recycle the phone and find a new home for it, but for every phone recycled they will plant a tree. Over 400,000 trees have been planted so far. This means over 200 tons of cell phones have been saved from being dumped into landfills. Another option is donating your cell phone for someone in the military. Operation Gratitude sends care packages to U.S. troops overseas. GRC Wireless Recycling will contribute up to $30

A Stolen BRIDGE? What Will It Be Next? - 10/09/11 11:11 AM
I happened to see something come across Twitter last night and I thought it had to be a joke. It was an article about a bridge that had gone missing. How does something like that happen? After watching the video you will understand but it speaks volumes to what is happening within our country. How desperate were these people that they decided to dismantle a bridge and what would have happened if they had been discovered? In a way it is kind of funny that it disappeared into "thin air" as this is a first. In the big picture though

Speechless Sunday - Do You Stand Out in a Crowd? - 10/09/11 08:33 AM
As most of you know I have some wonderful animals right up the street from my house. When I went by there yesterday the zebra which is usually too far from the road was a little closer than usual. Unfortunately no matter what I did I couldn't get him to look my way. Not having much of a voice I am certain didn't help me at all either. However even without him looking over at me I was still impressed as always with his beauty. He definitely stands out in a crowd and doesn't have to make any grand

Today is World Smile Day! - 10/07/11 06:44 AM
Today is World Smile Day! Harvey Ball of Worcester, Massachusetts created this day as he felt one day a year should be dedicated to smiling and doing acts of kindness. According to the World Smile Day website a proclamation of this day was even made by the U.S. Congress. Because of the popularity of the "smiley face" the postal service even issued a stamp showing the yellow smiley face. The intent of today is to go through the day with a smile, help others smile and do something kind for someone around you. If we all did this EVERYDAY wouldn't
