Today's meeting of the National Association of Realtors Equal Opportunity - Cultural Diversity Committee took place at the Convention Center Mariott Hotel in Anaheim, California.
The meeting was chaired by Danette O'Neal and NAR Executive Fred Underwood. Among the highlights of this meeting was an address to the committee by member Eric Kodner, representing the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP). Kodner is also Chair of the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) Diversity in Housing Committee.

On Thursday, October 13, we had eighteen forward-thinking Realtors in attendance at the Minnesota Association of Realtors building in Edina, for the NAR "At Home With Diversity" class. Not only was the course well-attended, but class participation was among the best I've ever encountered for this course.
We were delighted to see attendees from as far away as Hutchinson, Minnesota in class last Thursday. And it was an honor to see my friend Nobu Hata in attendance as well.

I'm delighted to report that I was awarded the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors 2010 "Exceptional Service Award" on Wednesday, March 16th.
The 2010 Award bears the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors name and logo, with the inscription, "In recognition of and to honor Eric Kodner as the principal advocate for amending the NAR Code of Ethics to include sexual orientation".

Lately I've noticed quite a few posts on ActiveRain about "too much new technology" and "too many gimmicks and gadgets". A post I wrote about QR codes even drew a couple of pretty strange comments about an Orwellian conspiracy to tattoo bar codes on the arms of Americans. In another post I just read on the same subject, the author wants someone to "prove it to me that this technology is worth using".
Here's the way I look at it:
IGNORE GOOGLE AT YOUR OWN PERIL. Google is invested in QR Code technology. So is RealBird. Apple is promoting it with several iPhone Apps specifically created for … (8 comments)

I spent a good part of my day teaching agents about blog marketing and SEO strategies yesterday at the Wisconsin Real Estate Convention (WRA) annual convention yesterday. And each time I offer these classes, I survey attendees about what they're doing to track their Web presence.
To my surprise, an awfully large number of real estate agents aren't using Google Alerts. Many of them haven't even heard of this feature.

Ever had to do a photo shoot inside a home that seems dark inside?
In the process of listing and selling second homes and "cabins" in the north country, I've seen dwellings that were rather dark. I love the rich look of wood, but it can work against you when you photograph a home's interior. When you want a bright and airy feel to your house photographs, at times it can be a real battle to get good results.

One week from tomorrow, I'll be teaching a couple of mini-courses on "Blog Marketing" and "Generating Leads With Your Blog" at the Wisconsin Realtors Association Annual Convention in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
This year's WRA Convention will take place at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Wisconsin Dells. The Convention starts on Sunday the 26th and runs through Tuesday the 28th.
Both mini-seminars will be in the Wi-Fi Lounge. The morning seminar (with instructor Eric Kodner) begins at 10:30 a.m. and will run just over a half-hour. The afternoon session will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Not surprisingly, a high percentage of luxury homes are not only expensively decorated, but many luxury homeowners tend to enjoy displaying their taste in fine art, antiques and collectibles. And when you put a luxury home on the market, therein lies the problem.
You wouldn't hesitate to advise a luxury home client to put away jewelry, coin collections or cash. Have you advised your clients to take stock of their art and antiques?
