The Art of FriendSHIP Through ActiveRain - 08/30/11 12:37 PM
"A ship in a harbor is safe, but that's not what ships were built for."  This quote by J. Shedd is as true for friendSHIP as it was in the author's context.

FriendSHIP
To be successful, people rely on social media and networking. Being sociable has many advantages. Blogging is a great way to tie the two together. People who blog and enjoy the social interaction between people develop friendSHIP, resources, technological assistance, ideas and a better way to do things to achieve success.
FriendSHIP is the vehicle that carries you forward. A good friend doesn't sink the ship … (3 comments)

Living with Wildlife In The Neighborhood: Desert Bighorn Sheep - 08/29/11 01:07 AM

~ Desert Bighorn Rams near Lake Mead, NV: "Me boss.  You not."  ~

~ "Okay.  Now that we've got that settled..." ~
NEVER be without your camera!  You never know what you'll see.  A week ago, I was in Boulder City, NV getting a haircut.  The barber was talking with another customer about the Bighorn sheep that had come down from the ridges of the mountains that overlook Lake Mead to feed on the lush grass near his subdivision.
My ears perked up.  I'd seen three overpasses on Hwy 93's Arizona side that were constructed solely to let … (16 comments)

Banks Seek Relief From Unwanted Deposits! It's A World Turned Upside Down. - 08/26/11 12:03 PM

Too much money
"Deposits are flooding into the biggest U.S. banks as customers seek shelter from Europe’s debt crisis and falling stock prices. That forces lenders to raise capital for a growing balance sheet and saddles them with the higher deposit insurance payments. With short-term interest rates so low, it’s hard for financial firms to reinvest the new money profitably."
So says Bloomberg this morning in an article titled "U.S. Banks Seek Relief on Swelling Deposits."  Let's see...  When the big banks feared they didn't have enough in capital reserves to weather the credit crunch back in 2007-2008, they … (5 comments)

Congress To VA Rulemakers: "Not So Fast. We Need The Money!" - 08/18/11 10:46 AM

You can't make this stuff up!  Congress has a bill going to DISALLOW the reduction of the VA Funding Fee.  It seems that they think they need the money more than our Veterans.

What can you do?
Pick up the phone!  Get involved.  Call your senators to complain!
Here's a link to find YOUR SENATORS and their phone numbers.  Let's do it now!
Congress doesn't worry about getting paid.  They don't worry about healthcare.  The only thing they worry about is what their constituents think about them, and in my humble opinion, they don't worry enough.  Give them something … (12 comments)

I Don't Care Who You Are, This Will make You Cry...We Let A Stranger In Our House...And A Friend Into Our Hearts - 08/15/11 07:46 AM
What a touching story, and what an unexpected ending!  My mother was an Army Nurse before I was born.  She passed on years ago, but I wish I could share this story with her.  She would have loved it!

In early July, I admit, we did something most people would consider a very foolish thing. We let a total stranger in our house.

For You Military Afficionados: Whirleybirds Over Gates Pass, Tucson, Arizona - 08/05/11 02:21 AM

~ Heavy Choppers Flying Into the Sunset ~
There's no mistaking the sound of the Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter.  I could hear these two approaching from the east, behind me, as I searched for a place to park my car at Gates Pass.  The sunset was exceptional tonight, and I was late.  Every spot seemed to be taken.  Then one opened up, and I pulled into the space, jumped out with my finger manipulating the zoom as I ran to the top and snapped this photo.  Ten seconds later they were out of sight.

A Good One On Bank of America... (You Needed a Smile) - 08/03/11 09:23 PM

~ MasterCard Stock Hits 52 Week High August 3, 2011 ~
Okay.  You need a smile, and I'm here to help out.  Credit on demand was the stock market winner today, keeping the market from having its longest losing streak since 1978.
Do you know how Credit Cards came to be?  I have a Bank of America story for you...
The year was 1958.  Bank of America wanted to get into the credit card business.
Diners Club, the very first credit card, was established in NYC in 1950 by a man named Frank McNamara.  It was accepted at its outset … (31 comments)
