old tucson studios: Monsoon Sunset (Tucson, AZ) - 08/25/09 06:47 AM
There's a magical combination of light and texture in the clouds at sunset during Tucson's monsoon season.
The rains have been spotty this summer, leading some to call this our Nonsoon Season. But all good things come to he who waits, and last night as I drove over Gates Pass on my way home, I could see that I needed to find a place to pull over and pick up the camera.

No, this isn't the back lot of Old Tucson Studios! It's the parking lot of a steakhouse right next to a McDonalds on a busy highway in Tucson, AZ.
The parking lot is full of other rides like these two on the right. Cars, too. And pickup trucks.
Friends, this is Tucson, Arizona!
Tiny's Saloon sits where it has for decades, at the intersection of Kinney Road and the Ajo Highway.

old tucson studios: Friday Night Post: Twilight In Tucson, Arizona - 04/26/08 01:38 AM
I don't know which I like better, the fire of a Tucson sunset, or the lovely stillness of the moonrise at twilight, after the sun has disappeared in the western sky. I took these two photos a half hour apart, the first from the parking lot at Gates Pass in the Tucson Mountains, and the second a half mile away, from Kinney Road opposite the Old Tucson Studios.
