South Florida Brokers & Associates is a current member of the Beacon Council (Miami Dade's economic developement committee).  We often receive updates and news letter from them regarding Miami's economis status.  I felt that this last update which we receive on a monthly basis was one worth sharing.  The update address Miami's unemployment versus employement growth.  Some of the highlights of the report are as follows:
Miami-Dade October 2008 unemployment rate is listed at 5.8%, although this may seem higher that a year ago (1.8% higher that October 2007), as a county we are still significantly below the national average of … (0 comments)

I received this Article / Update from the Beacon Council (Miami Dades Economic Developement Council).  I thought it was very interesting and thought I might pass it on.
 
MIAMI-DADE'S UNEMPLOYMENT REMAINS UNCHANGED, AND REMAINS BELOW STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS
The unemployment rate in Miami-Dade County in May 2008 remains unchanged at 4.7 percent. This is below the national average of 5.2 percent and the unemployment rate for Florida was also 5.3 percent. What Does the Economic Slow Down Really Mean?  
Miami Dade County has proven to be handling the economic slow down rather well. In my opinion one of the main indicators of this comes from a report I recently read issued by The Beacon Council (Miami Dade Economic Development Committee); this brief update spoke about Miami's unemployment rate.  Miami's unemployment rate has dropped to 3.8%!!  Much of the credit goes to Miami's continuing emergence as a global business center, foreign investment and foreign spending.  The report also depicted the sectors of the economy which showed growth:
Hospitals was up by 5.9%
