I can't remember who said this (I'm going to guess, Roald Marth), but he/she said, not only should you register your name as a domain name, you should also register your kid's (kids') name(s).  While they may not necessarily become a REALTOR, it's cheap to reserve it in the event they too, in the future, enter some professional field where "you are your brand".
Coincidentally, a real estate appraiser already snapped the .com name of my daughter, so I registered the .ca domain name.  Obviously, when it comes time to picking a name for our next kid, I'll have to check WHOIS … (6 comments)

It's really easy for ActiveRainers to post their listings (Localism).  But it's also easy to forget about removing them when the listing is no longer under contract (i.e., completed sale, expired, or terminated).  RECO's advertising guidelines (which clarify the advertising provisions within the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002) makes it pretty clear, among many other things, that it's a NO-NO to advertise a property for sale which is no longer under contract, i.e., misrepresentation.
So, make it easy on yourself:  tag your listings.  ("RECO is not your friend," as one broker said.)  You can readily review your listings by clicking on "List my tags", … (7 comments)
