The Bank of Canada's overnight lending rate currently stands at 3.5% with the major banks quoting prime at 5.25%.  Having previously observed increased downside risk in its last rate announcement, with some of those risks evidently materializing/intensifying (e.g., the Bear Stearns fire sale), it's increasingly likely we'll see the BoC cut … (0 comments)

Silver Lining on the Mortgage Crisis Storm Cloud - 03/04/08 11:06 PM
On the bright side, the central bank interest rate cuts -- precipitated by the subprime mortgage crisis --  are a welcome sight to homeowners -- like myself -- who find ourselves in the (unenviable?) position of renewing our mortgage.
