Lexington, Kentucky has attained a rank of number five in Forbes lastest list of "Hotspots". According to Forbes.com, the infusion from Toyota Motor Manufacturing of some $5.5 billion into the local economy is one of several reasons for Lexington's high rank. Other factors included in the ranking calculations included: cost of doing business; cost of living; educational attainment; crime rates, job growth and income growth.

Lexington, Kentucky has been named the 9th safest city to drive in according to the most recent "Allstate America's Best Drivers Report(TM)."
The safest city to drive in, according to Allstate's report, is Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which has been named the safest city to drive in for three years in a row.
According to the Allstate report, drivers in Lexington, Ky are 22% less likely than the average driver to have an accident, with an average number of years between collisions of 12.9.

Lexington, Kentucky ranks number five on Forbes Magazine's 2008 Best Places for Business and Careers. Forbes' rankings were calculated by weighing the size of the metro area against other factors such as cost of doing business, rate of job growth and education attainment of the population.
Lexington, with a Metro Area population of approximately 440,000 ranked high in the areas of cost of doing business, cost of living and educational attainment. Lexington also ranked well in the number of colleges located here compared to the size of the metro area.

Sentate Passes Housing Stimulus Bill - 07/26/08 02:32 PM
The Senate has passed the $300-billion housing bill aimed at helping to shore up the struggling housing market. The landmark bill, which passed by a 72 to 13 margin, contains measures to help establish a government rescue of mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It also offers a $7500 tax credit for first-time home buyers,establishes higher conforming loan limits for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and creates an affordable housing trust fund to be funded by proceeds from Fannie and Freddie.
President Bush, who until recently had vowed to veto the bill, is expected to sign it soon.

Nicholasville KY Named Number 1 Small City for Affordable Homes - 07/24/08 07:01 PM
The August edition of Money Magazine heralds good news for residents of Nicholasville Kentucky -- their city has been ranked number 1 among small cities for housing affordability.
The magazine analyized sales data from home sales within Nicholasville city limits and "only towns where there were more than 100 home sales in 2007 and that were experiencing job and population growth were considered" according to the magazine.

The Kentucky Department of Tourism has put together a great promotion to help promote travel within the state of Kentucky. It's called the "Discover Your Own Backyard" promotion and it involves discounts and travel incentives (gas cards, upgrades, etc.) at various locales. All you have to do is simply show your Kentucky driver's license.

Home Staging Doesn't Negate the Need for Proper Pricing - 07/11/08 10:20 AM
Today's post is in response to a question I received from a client Lexington KY regarding the pricing of her home after being professionally staged.
A statistic often quoted by home stagers (myself included) is that professionally staged homes sell for, on average, about 6% more than un-staged homes (This statistic comes from a survey by one of the better-known national real estate franchises quoted in USAToday) and in about half the time. In my work with real estate in and around Lexington KY, I have found this statistic to be pretty accurate.
