The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) has released the results of its Residential Brokers Survey for the fourth quarter 2011.  The results reflected a seasonably weak fourth quarter. As Fourth Quarter 2011 Market Reports found, New York City average home prices and sales citywide declined compared to the same time last year. Banks Win Bagels Lose on Upper West Side - 01/26/12 08:32 PM


Many Upper West Siders were saddened this past June when the famous H & H Bagels closed it's doors after almost 40 years on the Upper West Side. The store was closed down by the tax man. The owner was indicted on tax fraud charges.   DNAinfo reported a Bagel company from Queens had hoped to take over the space, but the landlord is asking approximately $450 per square foot, which wss too epensive. Lady Gaga's father, Joe Germanotta's new restaurant named Joanne is now taking reservations and will officially open February 1st. on the Upper West Side.
Lady Gaga hosted a New Year's Eve party there. The restaurant features a patio with a fireplace.
There is very little information regarding the menu. However, according to their website Chef, Charles Arthur "Art" Smith (born March 1, 1960 is an American chef who has worked for former Florida governor Bob Graham and Jeb Bush and until 2007 was personal chef to Oprah Winfrey.

Manhattan Market Reports
Although sales experienced a seasonal slowing in the Fourth Quarter, the value of Manhattan real estate continues to be stable.  Overall, the average price per square foot in Manhattan was off only 1% from last quarter and the year before, at $1,044. 
In the case of condominiums, limited inventory resulted in the highest pricing levels since late 2008.  Cooperatives held steady, with mild decreases or unchanged metrics.
