The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) has released the results of its Residential Brokers Survey for the fourth quarter 2011. The results reflected a seasonably weak fourth quarter. As Fourth Quarter 2011 Market Reports found, New York City average home prices and sales citywide declined compared to the same time last year. However, 60 percent of the brokers surveyed are optimistic for 2012 and expect next quarter’s residential market to be slightly better or much better than this quarter, a 23 percent increase compared to third quarter 2011 results. Many Upper West Siders were saddened this past June when the famous H & H Bagels closed it's doors after almost 40 years on the Upper West Side. The store was closed down by the tax man. The owner was indicted on tax fraud charges. DNAinfo reported a Bagel company from Queens had hoped to take over the space, but the landlord is asking approximately $450 per square foot, which wss too epensive. Apparently H&H owed over $300,000 in rent. A spokesperson for the Queens bagel company said opening in the former H&H space would signal that "the (8 comments)
Lady Gaga's father, Joe Germanotta's new restaurant named Joanne is now taking reservations and will officially open February 1st. on the Upper West Side. Lady Gaga hosted a New Year's Eve party there. The restaurant features a patio with a fireplace. There is very little information regarding the menu. However, according to their website Chef, Charles Arthur "Art" Smith (born March 1, 1960 is an American chef who has worked for former Florida governor Bob Graham and Jeb Bush and until 2007 was personal chef to Oprah Winfrey. The Broadway Malls From 60th Street to 168th Street, lies a history filled median of greenery and flowers called The Broadway Malls. The Malls were established in 1904 and have been a New York City park since 1904. Eighteen whimsical and captivating sculptures have been placed for public view on the Broadway Malls from Columbus Circle to 168th Street.
The Malls are a 5.5 mile-long park that provides a welcome green space from the Upper West Side through Harlem to Washington Heights.
Art on the Malls is the Broadway Mall Association’s program to enliven the Broadway Malls with contemporary art. (16 comments)
In 1865 a scenic drive and park was built on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The development of the park encouraged the construction of mansions along the drive.
Today Riverside Drive is made up of handsome grand prewar buildings, mansions and townhouses.

Manhattan Market Reports Although sales experienced a seasonal slowing in the Fourth Quarter, the value of Manhattan real estate continues to be stable. Overall, the average price per square foot in Manhattan was off only 1% from last quarter and the year before, at $1,044. In the case of condominiums, limited inventory resulted in the highest pricing levels since late 2008. Cooperatives held steady, with mild decreases or unchanged metrics. Thankfully, as I have been blogging about for years, the Manhattan sales market is stronger than most of the rest of the country with foreign buyers, a diversified employment (14 comments)
