More Than 8,200 Same-Sex Marriage Licenses Issued in First Year of Same Sex Marriage Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta and New York City Clerk Michael McSweeney announced that one year after the enactment of the Marriage Equality Act, same sex-marriages in New York City have generated an estimated $259 million in economic impact and $16 million in City revenues. The US postal Service unveiled a new Joe DiMaggio postage stamp and Bronx postmark at a ceromony at the main Bronx Post Office Saturday July 21, 2012. The post mark was created by a local postal employee. A Retail Sales & Service Associate at Hellgate Station in Manhattan, hand drew the postmark as part of a postal employee contest. His winning design included some of the most iconic symbols of DiMaggio's legendary career: Yankee Stadium, Joe's uniform number, and Joltin' Joe himself stepping up to bat. Last month, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama visited One World Trade to take a private tour to see the progress of construction. It was their first visit since the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
