Net Neutrality prevents Internet providers from speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.</p> <p>Net Neutrality is the reason why the Internet has driven economic innovation, democratic participation, and free speech online. It protects the consumer's right to use any equipment, content, application or service on a non-discriminatory basis without interference from the network provider. That&rsquo;s because NYC public schools will open their doors on Wednesday, not Tuesday as a result of a deal between the city and the teachers union.</p> <p>Some charter schools have opened already. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will watch President Obama's back-to-school <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/My-Education-My-Future/">speech</a> from a seat in <a href="http://www.manhattancharterschool.org/">Manhattan Charter School</a>.</p> <p>NYC has been building new schools.<span class="ltgrey_11pt"> 23 new school buildings with more than 13,000 seats will open at the start of the 2009-10 school year Sept. 9th. This new construction, along with the 18 new buildings opened last year, represents the most-ever new classroom seats to come on line in a two-year period since the School Construction Authority was created in 1988. </span></p> <p><span class="ltgrey_11pt">Between 2002 and 2012, the Department of Education is on track to construct more than 110,000 new school seats across the City, with more than 82,000 seats already completed. I sincerely appreciate all the offers.</p> <p>While I am saddened by the closing of Coldwell Banker Hunt Kennedy, I am excited and&nbsp;looking forward to many new opportunities at The Corcoran Group.</p> <p>Coldwell Banker Hunt Kennedy was the 6th largest broker in Manhattan with 214 agents. The firm was founded by two former Stribling brokers JoAnne Kennedy and Will Hunt.&nbsp;The firm began from humble beginnings with its first office above a pizza parlor on Upper Broadway, specializing in&nbsp;high-end upper west and upper east side properties. &nbsp;</p> <p>In 1996&nbsp;the company became associated as a franchise of Coldwell Banker, the first national brand to enter the Manhattan market. CBHK had an impact on the way business is conducted in Manhattan. CBHK along with four smaller firms brought NAR, NYSAR and MANAR (Manhattan Association of REALTORS&reg;) to Manhattan and started the Manhattan MLS.</p> <p>Today MANAR has&nbsp;48 member firms. Unfortunately they are all small sized firms. CBHK was the largest broker member.
