Thousands of service members sailed into town yesterday for the 22nd Annual Fleet Week. The Parade of Ships made its way up the Hudson River yesterday.
Hosted every year Memorial Day week, Fleet Week New York is the City's celebration of the sea services. This annual event also provides an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding Tri-State area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness first hand the latest capabilities of today's Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Team.

uss intrepid: Manhattan Icon: Intrepid Returns Home to Pier 86 - 10/03/08 06:30 AM
The USS Intrepid was towed to its home at Pier 86 in Manhattan from Staten Island yesterday after being moved to undergo almost $120 million worth of repairs and improvements. The interior of the ship has been completely renovated.
 

 
The World War II-era aircraft carrier made its way through New York Harbor, passing the World Trade Center site and the Statue of Liberty along the way. 400 guests and former crew members attended while hundreds of New Yorkers greeted the ship with waving American flags along the west side of Manhattan.
