Wooded Estate Home for Sale in Monroe, NC

5411 Griffith Road, Monroe, NC

Drive down the entrance to this country estate under the canopy of hardwoods. The beautiful and substantial brick exterior is your first impression of this sizable, yet unpretentious home. Enter the front door into the 2 story foyer and prepare to be inspired by the gleaming hardwood floors and the handsome chair rail and crown molding. French doors open into the formal dining room where sparkling wainscoting and large bright windows are sure to impress. Make your way to the den where arched windows bring in the view of the wooded backyard. Gas logs set inside the brick fireplace with its custom mantle will bring warmth to all on those cold winter evenings.

The kitchen offers plenty of counter space including an island that doubles as space for food prep and for casual dining. Ample storage is provided by the custom cabinetry and the large pantry. And the large powder room and mud/laundry room are conveniently located nearby.

The highlight of the first floor is the open and roomy master suite with its walk-in closet and study/sitting area separated by elegant French doors. The spacious master bath boasts ceramic tile, garden tub, walk-in shower, and dual sinks with a vanity/dressing table for her. Lucky her!

Upstairs there are 3 more perfectly sized bedrooms and a bonus room for whatever recreation or leisure activity you can imagine: movies, music, games, exercise, library, or all of the above! The Jack and Jill bathroom makes cleanup for the kids or for the guests convenient. Ample storage is under the eaves of the second floor through access doors from the bonus room. There is also plenty of storage upstairs and down with large closets in every room and hallway.

Now, move to the retreat for the heart and soul: the back yard. The rich porch features a brick floor and wrought iron handrails. The landscaping is natural and shows off flowers and shrubs perfectly planted for this shaded oasis. You will never see or hear your neighbors in this private space, just the birds and the breeze.

Although the attached 2-car garage is large enough for most of us, the detached triple-car, two-story garage/workshop is gargantuan luxury! You will always have enough storage space here for even a car collection or make it a personal workshop, a teenagers' hangout, a man-cave, or all of the above. You will not believe how large this extra space is and the possibilities for it are limitless!

This estate with its 5.4 acres is priced to sell. You will not find this much space, these upgraded amenities, this size of property, and this amazing garage/workshop space in this kind of idyllic setting at a lower price. Imagining yourself in a new home? Try this one on for size and you will be captivated!

Home for Sale in Monroe, Union County, NC

2825 Aprilia Lane in Monroe, NC

Welcome to a home with everything: luxury, space, comfort, and beauty. This exceptional home has had one owner since its construction in 2005 and has been perfectly maintained. Warm hardwoods flow throughout the entire main floor, upgraded light fixtures brighten the rooms, vaulted ceilings enhance the rooms, and neutral paint colors grace the walls. The open floor plan with a split bedroom design creates an excellent environment for both entertaining and privacy.

The entry hall begins the positive first impressions with wainscoting that flows into the formal dining room. The great room boasts gas logs in the warm fireplace, fan on the 15 foot high ceiling, and plenty of light through the tall window and paneled glass door. The breakfast nook provides the perfect space for coffee and the morning paper in a generous window overlooking the large back yard. The kitchen shows off with gleaming granite countertops, custom cabinetry, matching appliances, and an atmosphere of warmth and joy. There is a pantry for storage and a perfectly-sized laundry room.

Now for the place to rest your head: Lay claim to the master suite with its perfectly appointed crown molding, trey ceiling, and huge walk-in closet. The bath is like a personal spa with its garden tub, double sinks, separate shower, and ceramic tile. The 2 additional bedrooms are equally spacious and decked out with the amenities you would expect of a fine home. One has a vaulted ceiling and arched window, the other has crown molding and 9 foot ceiling. Both consider the importance of storage with double closets.

The bonus room upstairs is large enough to customize as an entertainment/media room, office, craft space, sewing room, study, lounge, or overflow for guests. The massive attic storage space is accessible here with a full-sized door to actually allow an adult to move in and out with seasonal items. Nice!

The one acre lot provides plenty of space for playing, gardening, and/or entertaining with the beautiful deck, shady pergola, and stamped concrete patio. Bring out the grill! This sparkling clean home with its ample space and elegant appointments is perfect. The location is faultless. The price is exceptional. Make this your new place to call home!

Home for Sale in Waxhaw, NC

11023 King George Lane in Waxhaw, NC

If the 3 most important features of a new house are location, location, location, then this home is perfect! Wander through the striking neighborhood of The Reserve between Ballantyne and Waxhaw. Stroll past the giant Oak of the community and the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts to a private bridge that leads to a street of four remarkable homes. 11023 King George Lane is sited on a rise above the bridge and distinguishes itself with a beautifully landscaped yard of multi-seasonal color and variety.

Step into the entry with its soaring ceiling, wainscoting, and custom trim. The soothing and neutral paint palette welcomes guests as they flow through the expansive, open floor plan. The formal dining room and living room provide space for reserved entertaining and a few steps through the archway take you to the family room and spacious kitchen. The centerpiece of the family room is the gas logs set inside a beautifully painted fireplace. Of course, there are granite countertops and custom cabinetry in the kitchen, but added luxuries come from the tile floor and backsplash, the built-in desk, the glass fronted cabinets, pendant lighting, stainless steel appliances, and a huge, sunny breakfast area. Gourmet all the way!

The laundry/mud room is just off the kitchen where it should be. The downstairs bedroom has built-in cabinetry and is beside a tiled full bathroom for luxurious guest accommodations. The grand staircase features hardwood treads and a maple and wrought iron railing.

There are 3 additional bedrooms upstairs, plus a spacious master suite with a fireplace, trey ceiling, walk-in closet, ceiling fan, recessed lighting, and a master bath with all the features: soaking tub, walk-in shower, tile, double sinks, and maple cabinetry. All bedrooms provide ample closet space, upgraded carpeting and light fixtures.

The bonus/media room is spacious enough for the whole family and lots of guests for games, movies, computer table, exercise equipment, and more! There is even a double closet for storage of games, DVDs, and more.

The secret for this home, however, is the astonishing oasis in the back yard. The large deck has a private area for a hot tub or spa, space for dining, grilling and relaxing. Follow the stone pathway across the bridge and through the arbor to another sitting area at the edge of the woods. Trees that provide privacy, shrubs that change with the seasons, and flowers that add color are in abundance in this tranquil and visually enchanting landscape. There are even raised garden spaces for you to grow your own herbs, vegetables, or flowers to cut and bring indoors.

110 Creek View Lane, Wingate, NC

This home is a secret retreat in the small college town of Wingate. Surrounded by hardwoods on a cul de sac street, the privacy and natural surroundings here will recharge your battery every day when you wake up inside and then walk onto the deck or the patio, or into the beautifully landscaped yard. The large, nearly ceiling-to-floor, windows provide a bright and airy interior. The neutral colors are soothing and the architectural details on the interior and exterior of the home give it a sense of casual elegance.

Step onto the functional porch and into the perfectly-sized family room. You will first notice the 9 foot ceiling with the handsome fan. The crown molding, raised-hearth brick fireplace, and open floor plan add details that surpass the other homes in the area. The dining room is large enough to seat all the guests for a holiday feast, and the details of the chair rails and wood floors add distinction. The adjacent kitchen provides ample counter space, cabinets, and pantry area for the family chef.

On the main floor, the master suite is large enough for all your bedroom furniture, has a beautiful neutral color on the walls, and is ready for move-in. The generous private bath features dual sinks, garden tub, walk-in shower, and a linen closet. Here, the beautiful large windows overlook the extraordinary landscape of the back yard.

Upstairs, two generously-sized bedrooms provide plenty of space for family or guests. The bonus room can become whatever you desire: a media room, exercise space, game or craft room, office/study, or lounge. The additional bathroom upstairs is perfectly located for everyone. There is plenty of accessible storage under the eaves.

Now, head down to the basement where the 2 car garage, tool room/workshop, and storage room await. You will have plenty of space for overflow from the kitchen pantry, seasonal items, lawn and garden equipment, luggage waiting for your next trip, and even extra furniture. The basement is generous and well-lit and can become that storage space you have always wanted and needed.

You must visit this retreat to get the true feel of the lifestyle that can be yours in the cozy little hamlet of Wingate - a private sanctuary with nature all around you in a warm and friendly neighborhood.

Gardening Tips for Union County NC - Great Tools

Best Investments for the Gardener

When money is tight, we often look carefully at each purchase to justify it as an investment. Choosing from the plethora of gardening tools available in the garden center is difficult for those of us who love collecting gadgets for our favorite past-time. Do I really need another tool to plant, prune, or pot? Here are my top 5 recommendations for the casual or serious gardener to make life easier in the yard this spring.

Felco pruners are the Cadillac of hand pruners and come in various sizes. There is even a pair for left-handed gardeners. Priced at about $50 a pair, these bypass pruners are heavy enough to cut a branch up to one half inch in diameter. They can be sharpened (and should be regularly) and last long past the lifespan of the two dozen cheap ones you have already broken or lost. The Felco price-point will motivate you to keep up with them.

Bypass lopping shears are those long-handled pruners that cut limbs up to 1 ½ inches in diameter. Of course, Felco makes excellent lopping shears priced at $80, but because I use hand pruners almost daily, and my lopping shears much less often, I have a lesser expensive brand. These are a must-have if you have large shrubs or trees on your property.

Gardening gloves provide important protection for the hands. My favorites for general tasks are the close-fitting gloves with latex grips. With these $6 gloves, you need not sacrifice mobility or comfort and they actually last more than one season. Although more bulky, I prefer leather gloves for added protection when working with plants with thorns.

Trowels come in every shape, size, color, and breakability. My favorite trowel is my ten year old Soil Scoop with a patented spoon shaped blade with serrated edges on each side and a pointed tip. Costing about $20, it is perfect for digging, weeding, scooping, and even cutting open bags of potting soil.

Watering wands are better than a regular water nozzle for gently soaking pots, hanging baskets, and bedding plants. Dramm makes a wand of unbreakable plastic (about $50) that will withstand the dropping that seems to plague all water hose attachments at my house, but I have not seen it locally. I always have to replace the cheap $15 versions every spring, but I have to have them!

There are certainly hundreds of items we need and desire to aid us in our pursuit of beautiful yards. I recommend spending more on those items you use regularly and maybe a bit less for those that tend to spend more time in the potting shed. Since spring is here, you'll find me outside in my jeans and with as many tools as I can carry in the pockets.

Of course, having space to garden means investing in a home with a yard. I have beautiful estate properties for sale with room enough for horses, playgrounds, and, yes, vegetable gardens and lush landscapes. Contact me for more details at www.mitcheudy.com. Happy gardening!

Winter Damage in the Garden

Winter Damage

Taking a tour through the landscape this spring has been quite depressing! Many ornamental shrubs look like they have come through a serious battle and were not necessarily on the winning side. Spotted leaves, dead stems and branches, and leaf loss are rampant on the Indian hawthorns, camellias, gardenias, and many others right now. Much of what we are seeing is damage from the very cold winter we experienced. Many of our shrubs did not have an opportunity to acclimatize to the cooler temperatures prior to those severe freezing temperatures we saw in December. Then, the continued single digit temperatures really put many shrubs to the test. Shrubs that are hardy in our region (USDA Zone 7b) may not be happy in this temperature range, and we are sure to see a few of them as complete losses this spring.

What can be done about these winter battle wounds? If you are seeing winter damage in your own landscape, get out the pruners and rake, and start the cleanup. First, cut out any dieback or severely damaged branches. Prune back to the stems that show green when the bark is scratched. Then, clean up the dead and fallen leaves as they may encourage disease this spring. Wait until mid-April to fertilize with a slow-release or organic fertilizer, as we do not want to encourage premature new growth that may be damaged by a late frost.

Some of your ornamentals may need to be cut back nearly to the ground to find green stems. Be patient as the weather warms and wait for the new growth to appear. If you are not the patient type, maybe it is time to take out the old and bring in the new. Make your way to the nearest garden center and buy replacements or new ones - those shrubs you have always desired. Talk with the folks at your nursery to get ideas of those that thrive in our region.

In the Garden - Winter Dreams in Union County, NC

The Canada geese have returned. The same pair has nested on our pond for the last 17 years. They mate for life and rebuild the same nest year after year. Like clockwork, in early February, the pair flies in with their juvenile children, hang around as if they are considering the integrity of the neighborhood, and then insist to their year-old kids that it is time for them to launch. The adolescent offspring depart to greener shorelines, and the husband and wife settle in for the next six weeks of nesting, incubation, and hatching of new babies.

Unlike most folks living near ponds and lakes in Union County, our family actually looks forward to the coming of our geese. Their arrival marks the point in the year when we can expect the blooms of winter: winter jasmine, hyacinth, forsythia, daffodils, tulips, and saucer magnolias. Could spring be around the corner?

When it is too cold and too wet to work in the garden, we certainly can dream and plan it. Winter is the perfect season to get out the gardening books, catalogs, and magazines and start designing. Consider your spaces, the amount of sunshine, your favorite colors, and remember your region. Union County is considered by the USDA to be a Zone 7b, so keep this in mind for the summer heat, not just the winter freeze, for new plants you are contemplating for your garden. Get your lists together now as spring is on the horizon.

For the rest of the winter our family will keep an eye on the mother goose and watch for signs of the new hatchlings on our pond. Last year they made their debut on Easter, and it signaled to us that the birth of spring is more than symbolic. Let us anticipate it with the blooms that winter shares with us now.

Gardening Tips for Union County NC - Winter Pruning

PRUNING INFORMATION FOR WINTER

Old habits die hard. As a gardener and former landscaper, I can't help but think about my landscape as winter begins its rule over my garden. May I talk a little about plants to help me get through the dreary doldrums of winter? Let's talk about pruning:

What should I prune?

Trees and shrubs that are overgrown.

Plants damaged by disease, insects, or weather

Plants that are crowding others or are poorly shaped

What tools do I use?

Hand pruners are used for cuts on stems that are less than one half inch in diameter.

Lopping shears are used for stems and branches that are larger than ½ inch yet smaller than 1 ½ inches in diameter.

Pruning saws are best for branches that are larger than 1 ½ inches in diameter.

Pole saws are cutting blades or saws on along pole and are used for pruning tree branches that are too high to reach from the ground.

Hedge shears are manual, gas powered or electric tools that are used to shear hedges for a neatly trimmed appearance.

When do I prune?

Avoid pruning during the fall or early winter as new growth is encouraged and may be damaged by cold weather.

The following shrubs should be pruned before spring growth begins as they bloom on "new wood." This is typically in February or March.

Beautyberry (Callicarpa species) Butterfly-bush (Buddleia davidii)

Camellia (Camellia species) Chastetree (Vitex agnus-castus)

Viburnum (Viburnum trilobum) Anthony Waterer Spirea (Spiraea x bumalda)

Crapemyrtle (Lagerstroemia species) Floribunda roses

Fragrant Tea Olive (Osmanthus fragrans) Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides)

Grandiflora roses Glossy Abelia (Abelia x grandiflora)

Goldenraintree (Koelreuteria species) Japanese Barberry (Berberis thunbergii)

Japanese Spirea (Spiraea japonica) Nandina (Nandina domestica)

Rose-of-Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) Sweetshrub (Calycanthus floridus)

How should I prune?

First, remove branches that are rubbing, crossed over each other, dead, diseased, or dying.

Next, determine if you need to prune to reduce height and spread, to thin, or to shape. You may want to consult the NCSU or Clemson University websites for detailed information regarding these issues.

Making the proper pruning cut is very important for the appearance and the health of the plant. Remember to always cut back to a bud, a lateral branch, or to the main trunk.

When cutting back to a bud, the cut should be at a slight angle just above the bud.

Proper pruning will improve the health and appearance of your plants. And healthy plants improve the appearance and value of your home. Happy gardening!

1216 Haden Drive, New Towne Village, Waxhaw, NC

Located in New Towne Village in the highly desirable school districts of New Town and Cuthbertson in western Union County, this lovely home is affordable, sparkling clean, and perfectly maintained. The nine foot ceilings provide an atmosphere of spaciousness while the flowing floor plan creates a feeling of intimacy. Honey-colored hardwoods, neutral paint colors, super-functional kitchen, wide hall-ways, and perfectly-sized bedrooms make this home an ideal choice for the buyer who expects a little more than the average Waxhaw home. There is a bright sunroom downstairs that could double as an office or art studio, a finished pantry/closet under the stairs that makes the best hiding place on earth, and an oversized backyard for those who love to run and play (or grill and entertain) with plenty of guests. The cul de sac street is, of course, quiet, and the neighborhood pool is the place to visit with neighbors. New Towne Village is a tranquil community, and 1216 Haden Drive is a perfect place to call home.

First time selling your home? Advice for the novice

Q. How does one determine the price of a house when it is time to sell?

A. Below are the factors that do not matter when determining the price of your home when it is time to sell:

1. What you paid for the house 3 years ago.

2. What it would cost to rebuild today.

3. What your neighbor is asking for his house.

4. What you owe on your house.

5. What you have imagined as the amount you should profit.

6. What you really want.

Ultimately, the price at which a house will sell is determined by the buyer.

Q. What can the seller do about this?

A. Talk with your real estate advisor about a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA in the language of real estate professionals). This figure will come from a realistic evaluation of the homes like yours in your area that have sold in the last few months (or more). Remember, this is not the price at which the comparable houses were LISTED; this is the price at which these houses were SOLD. A CMA will help you to have a realistic expectation of the market at the time you are ready to sell and will help to alleviate some of the shock that comes with selling your first home. Sometimes sellers decide that the time is not right to list their home after seeing the CMA. Better to know!

ATTRACTING BIRDS TO YOUR GARDEN

ATTRACTING BIRDS TO YOUR GARDEN

It seems that in discussing the process of attracting nature to your yard, the first thing to consider is not how but why?

Although it appears trite, Henry Mitchell put it correctly when he wrote: "Your garden will reveal yourself." He was not referring to an onlooker's response to your garden like: "Oh what an orderly yard - must be an accountant." Mitchell was speaking to the response of your spirit to the natural sanctuary you can create around your home.

In order to make the most of our natural surroundings, we should recognize the greater power that nature possesses.

Patricia Barrett gets it right in The Sacred Garden: "Connection with gardens, even small ones, even potted plants, can become windows to the inner life. The simple act of stopping and looking at the beauty around us can be prayer." Gardening provides something greater than simple beauty for our real estate. Gardening provides beauty for our souls.

So now, question number two is: How do we do this?

Whether you garden in Union County, NC or in Atlanta or in Charleston, there are two very specific ways to attract and provide for creatures in your yard:

The first is, of course, by providing food and water for them.

The second is to provide refuge and protection for birds where they can make their nests and raise their young.

Food and Water are the most important elements in attracting a variety of birds to your garden. The list of food sources for birds and butterflies is endless. The NC State University website has extensive lists of plants for naturally attracting hummingbirds and butterflies to your yard. Try to keep the water clear and fresh at your bird bath. Different types of commercial bird foods attract different species of birds and where you feed is also important.

Hopper feeders are those that may look like a little house that you fill with food and part of the food spills out onto a protected ledge. These ledges are perfect for cardinals and robins to perch - where these birds have a hard time on smaller perches.

Tube feeders with large holes are great for titmice, chickadees, finches, jays, and sparrows.

Tube feeders with small holes attract finches, especially if you use thistle seed. If you feed sunflower chips you will get plenty of chickadees and nuthatches.

Platform feeders attract the same species as the hopper feeders: cardinals, songbirds, jays, titmice, finches, sparrows, chickadees, nuthatches, and robins. A lot will depend on the type of feed you choose.

There are some birds that prefer to feed on the ground. I often see the cardinals and jays at the dog's bowl, eating his food.

Suet feeders attract birds that prefer high fat intake like woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, and jays.

Splurge for the better quality bird food as inexpensive bird food will create more waste. These contain large amounts of corn, millet, and milo that most birds seem to kick out of the feeder. If you feed on a porch, patio, or deck, use a food like shelled sunflower seeds. If you feed just the meats from the sunflowers, there is less waste to clean up, and you will have lots of winged friends requesting reservations at the best restaurant in the neighborhood!

Cover and shelter for birds is very important as they appreciate shelter from their enemies and from the elements. Diversity of shelter is also important if you want to attract the maximum number of species. Different levels of plant growth provide shelter for different varieties of birds. For example:

Juncos, robins, and sparrows are ground-based for feeding but seek shelter and nesting sites in taller shrubs and trees.

House finches enjoy thick shrubby areas for shelter and prefer to feed off the ground.

Woodpeckers and flickers spend most of their time in the upper levels of trees for both feeding and for nesting.

Bluebird boxes are a sure way to attract that wonderful species for nesting and raising young, but make sure you follow the directions provided by the manufacturer to maximize your chances of having a new neighbor move in.

Brush piles create a wonderful haven for many birds. These and dense shrubs that are 8-10 feet away from feeders and bird baths will help provide cover for birds from the family cat.

Think of the benefits to the birds for you to provide a sanctuary for them in your yard. Think also of the benefits to you, your spirit, and your own well-being as you bring more wild creatures into your yard this winter!

Gardening Tips for Union County NC - Our Best Trees

Best Trees for Union County NC

Selecting a tree for the garden is a monumental task as there are so many from which to choose. Consider all of the characteristics of beauty, size, and form when making your selections for your own yard. These 5 are great choices for the heat and humidity of the Piedmont region of North Carolina:

Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis) is a lovely evergreen that is ideal for a specimen tree in the landscape. The color is bright green most of the year, but it may become bronze colored in the winter, which adds to the interest of this tree. Because it grows tall and slender, the ‘Emerald Green' variety makes an excellent foundation tree, especially when something upright is needed. The ‘Green Giant' arborvitae works well for screening as it grows 2 to 4 feet annually. These trees prefer light to partial sun and well-drained soil.

Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginicus) is a native small tree or large shrub. As the name implies, the fringe tree blooms with silky white flowers in the spring that are scented like honey. This tree is perfect as a specimen tree, placed so the homeowners and passersby can gain the greatest enjoyment for its color and scent. Plant it in full sun with flowers at its base.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) is a slow growing tree, but is worth the investment of time. Its unique, fan-shaped leaves turn a lemon yellow in the fall. They cling to the branches for weeks, until, all at once, they drop to the ground, all within a 48-hour period. Plant this tree in an open and sunny spot to accommodate its growth, as some varieties of ginkgo will grow to 80 feet in height.

River Birches (Betula) make beautiful specimen trees as they have unusual peeling bark and an attractive open canopy. The ‘Crimson Frost' birch is a variety that has burgundy foliage in the spring and early summer and nearly white bark. They also like full sun and grow quite large.

Serviceberry (Amelanchier) is a small native tree that satisfies every season. It blooms in the spring, has edible blueberry-like fruit in the summer, impressive red and orange leaves in the fall, and silvery bark for winter interest. The multi-trunk choices are ideal for a specimen planting in a sunny or partly sunny site.

Since trees in the home landscape are tributes and investments, spend time considering all your options. Buy the largest one you can afford, plant it in soil that has been improved with compost, and water it regularly to get it established. These investments in your home's landscape will provide joy for yourself, your family, and the entire neighborhood.

When is the real estate market coming back so I can sell my house?

The market is back. Every real estate period is a market, and today's period is a buyer's market. This is an unusually long and painful market if we have to sell before we can buy and most of us have to. We all want to buy low and sell high, whether it is a home, a car, or stocks. We all enjoyed the wonderful paper wealth we experienced prior to 2008 as perceived in the rising values of our homes. We painfully watched it disappear over a period of just a year. The emotional adjustment to this financial calamity was easier for some depending on the financial position they were in and the amount of time they had to make a move.

I have been on many listing appointments this year, and I am finding that homeowners who bought their homes before 2004, and do not have a home equity loan, are still likely to have equity in their home. This is a fortunate position to find oneself because these folks can make the decision to move forward. The people I see with fewer choices are the ones who have home equity loans. These wonderful second mortgages provided us with many luxuries, home improvements, education for our children, or essential large purchases we would have not been able to afford without that option. But now many of us are paying the price for these loans.

We are creatures of habit and with short memories. We are living in our current market, and we must painfully adjust to it. Our homes are not worth as much as we want them to be, but that also means the homes we want to purchase are not as high in value. This can be a great time to buy with historically low interest rates and lower home prices. Remember the buy low and sell high axiom. It is hard to have it both ways, but to be able to buy low with a low interest rate is not the worst situation. Remember, real estate has always been viewed as a safe and steady investment. This is still true today, because, as Great-Granddaddy used to say, "They ain't making no more land."

So, as soon as we can forget those artificially high appraisals we experienced prior to 2006, and accept today's values, we will enjoy our real estate again as a positive asset in our net worth. We will be able to sleep better and be more positive for our neighbors who stay worried about the market returning. The market is here.

The Holidays Have Arrived in Wingate NC

With the annual Yule Log service, Christmas has officially arrived at Wingate University in Union County, NC. Faculty, students, staff, and community friends joined together Thursday night, December 2, 2010, for carols, hot chocolate, cookies, candle-lighting, and a 2-story sized bon fire. The chill in the air and the crackle of the fire created a perfect mood for warming hearts to the holiday season. Wingate students prepare for final exams, faculty and staff anticipate travels and a well-earned break, and the Wingate community ready the trees in their own homes for the season of peace, love, and hope. Merry Christmas to all!
