Breaking News: SB 931 Bans Deficiency on California First Mortgages After a Short Sale - 08/28/10 04:40 PM
Last week I did a post on SB 1178 (here in California) and it's now become "official". Elizabeth Weintraub highlights a few of these points as well, exciting news for sellers who refinanced and could not get around the deficiency judgement.

Victory for Homeowners in California - 08/20/10 02:01 AM
NEWS ALERT: August 19, 2010
By a 49 to 14 vote, the California State Assembly approved SB 1178 extending anti-deficiency protection for consumers who have refinanced their original mortgage loans and now are facing foreclosure.
We've been waiting for a decision on this bill simply because it seemed unfair that those who refinanced their original loan couldn't get the same protection even though several of them refinanced it to get a lower interest rate. Many of them are now facing foreclosure too because of job loss or a huge decrease in their income.

If you're currently in escrow on a home...read this quick list and DO NOT do these things before your home loan is funded. You would be surprised how many buyers go in contract on a house that ends up falling through because they went out and made some crazy moves that eventually held things up, or worse, affected their ability to buy their dream home.
1. Don't pack or ship information that may be needed for the loan application to fund. Paperwork such as W-2 forms, divorce decrees or tax returns. Duplicate copies take weeks to obtain.

Fifteen public playgrounds across Shasta County have been developed especially for young children under five years old. The playgrounds are funded by First 5 Shastaand feature age-appropriate play equipment and a safe place for youngsters to explore, develop new skills and get the wiggles out.
