things to do: Cool, Sunday Drive ~ Dunsmuir CA - 05/08/12 02:10 PM
Welcome to Dunsmuir, CA...
Is there anything better to do on a cool, Spring day than a short drive to one of our favorite little towns, Dunsmuir, California!
It's quaint, it's historic and it embodies the best of smalltown America!
Dunsmuir is one of those little river and railroad towns you wished you had grown up in. Actually, come to think of it...I did grow up in a railroad town (population 4,200)! Dunsmuir reminds me of my old stomping grounds in Connell, WA in many ways.
Dunsmuir is know for having "the best water on earth"...they're serious about their water.
I like that you can walk from the local … (4 comments)

things to do: 10 Heart-Warming Gifts That Will Cost You Nothing - 12/16/11 01:59 PM
They say it's better to give than to receive, and I whole-heartedly agree with that. Growing up, and even today, my favorite gifts are those that are hand-made, simple gestures of love that really don't cost anything.
1. When was the last time you paid a visit to an elderly person or a widow? Whether at their home or an assisted living facility, I have seen the joy and excitement in their eyes when they see you walking up to them. It's very special and free.
2. Invite a neighbor over for dinner this month. I know what you'll say...busy right? We can come up with so … (0 comments)

things to do: I love Localism - 07/03/08 02:34 PM
One of the best features of Active Rain is this little word called Localism (which by the way is going through a major make over as I write this post) due to launch on JULY 9TH!!!. The Pro's here on AR will tell you how amazing it is and if you're just getting started, don't let it freak you out.  It's very simple.  Just post on something "local", that's it!  Have fun with it. I'm sure more instructions will be sent out as the new face of LOCALISM launches.  In the meantime, joing the GROUP and post away.
Having said that, … (4 comments)
